Re: 2003 viper
They have high end cars like that beat jet planes in the quarter at demonstrations for air shows and stuff fairly regularly. The reason they can beat them is that jet engines don't make max power until they have alot of air moving through them. The jet would win in a half mile race with no problem, but from a standstill it takes a bit to get going.

Re: 2003 viper
Yeah, and there are toy cars that have scale acceleration greater than a ferrari. Big deal.
Case in point--
My dad, in an MG B, beat a big-block corvette in a race. The terms were precise. Just through the intersection. The vette spun tires on the wet road, the MG didn't.

quite true. the viper is pretty cool, although there is a sports car coming out this year that will cut off it's ass and hand it over to dodge prez. Bob Lutz! what's it called? why, the Ferrari Enzo (F60), of course!

Re: 2003 viper
But can you get the ferrari for around $70,000? Probably not. Dump enough money into a viper to make it cost what the ferrari will and then you can compare the 2.

Hmmm...
A limited-edition Ferrari named after the big guy himself? Yes, it's nice, but you can buy ten stock Vipers for that price, or a few TNT Vipers...

ah, but the ferrari comes with prestige, superior handling and top speed, higher quality materials, and it looks WAY better (IMO). and how about that sequential 6- speed? anyways, the viper is good car. no, a great car. but me, I'd rather have ferrari. and it doesn't really matter, since I could never afford either of them. anyways, the Viper, you're paying 70 grand for a high powered roadster. the ferrari, you're paying big bucks for a street legal Formula 1 car (literally).

Ricers aren't people that actually put some work into their car, a ricer is a poser.

and I don't see your problem. hey, it's your problem, you live with it, or better yet, PLEASE for everyone's sake, work your stupid problems out. Poser and ricer mean the same thing. up here, the people that actually put some work into their cars are called "street racers". Vancouver and surrounding areas are famous for the illegal street racing. we've had several crashes over the past year, when the kids (the majority of them asians, true fact) take their fancy toys and crash them at high speeds. up here, an Econobox all suped up is rare, rather, we get these kids who get mercs and BMW's, and the brand new Acura Type R's, and they modify them to oblivion. some dude with his brand new vette Z06 raced another guy in his LAMBO recently... that ended up a big mess. they all died, I think. well, at least they're using cars that were actually MADE to go fast. that's what I'm talking about, all the racers aren't driving civics and crap. they're driving these serious machines, cause their mommies and daddies are too busy in meetings and on business trips to bother with their kids, so they give them these high powered cars with which to go have fun in. they don't know how to handle them, they're unexperianced, and they go >bUmpH< and die. THANK you, good night.

Re: 2003 viper
Ricers as it's usually used is reserved for posers. An economy car that can actually whoop up on an old v8 usually doesn't catch alot of flack and will get it's fair share of respect once it actually runs against the big boys.
Nitrous isn't bad for an engine as long as it's installed and used correctly. I've seen juiced engines that were just as reliable as nonjuiced, if the person took the time to learn what he was doing or took it to a pro. Then again, I've seen people put a 100 shot onto an already worn out engine and hit the happy gas just off of idle. That's a good way to melt your shit.
Putting a shiny cold air intake, fart tube muffler, stickers and park bench looking spoiler on a honda is about all that most posers do. They're the ones that give all of the import/sport compact guys a bad reputation.
About your 1001 hp on a stock ricer. How about you find ANY car that puts out that power stock. I'm thinking you probably meant to say without nitrous and naturally aspirated instead of stock. If that's the case, your're not going to find a 4 banger doing that, and a V8 isn't going to be streetable at all. Add forced induction of some kind, then you're going to find a few more.

THANK YOU! that's what I'm saying as for the 1001 HP stock, I think the guy is talking about the Bugatti Veyron 16/4. it has 1001 HP stock. and the bugatti is definetelly NOT a rice-type car. some info: it's said to be perfectly street legal, with the engine being able to pure along like said honda, but when you plant the pedal, it's said to feel (literally) like a rocket launching. it'll do 0-60 in about 2 and a half seconds, and 0-180 MPH in 14 seconds. it's top speed is said to be well over 240 Miles per hour. also, it's one of the NICEST looking cars ever created by man IMO. it's engine is a 7,993-cc Volkswagen 16 cylinder, yes, 16, arranged in the "W" formation. it has quad turbo chargers and 64 Valves. coupled with a 7 (yes, 7) speed sequential gearbox, and all wheel drive, it is said to be the ULTIMATE machine. you can see and hear it at: www.carpassion.com/en/car.php?c=25 there even video clips of it starting up. it has one hell of a sound! the 0-60 might be a tad slower due to gearing. it's still madness, though.

Re: 2003 viper
whoops!
I can't believe I messed up... it's french, not Italian. Who said the French can't built pretty cars?
the story: Bugatti was started by a man named Ettore Bugatti (I think). a frenchman, he loved to go fast. this was around the 1910's, BTW. he was a legendary race car driver, and made some notable creations such as the beautiful type 35 Gran prix car, arguably the first with alloy rims, and the first to use disc brakes in a race car. also, the ultimate luxury car, the Type 41 Royale. this had an over-12000(!) CC V12 engine, and produced enough torque that it was used in some train engines. it was the Epitome of luxury, and by some standards, still is. it was a massive 7000 ibs. in weight, and only the highest quality materials, shaped and assembled by hand were used. Only 6 were made, and they all still exist, and if you want to buy one, tough luck. one of them is in a museum, and the others are owned by multi billionares. they generally go for around $30 million. it even had the guiness world record for the worlds most expensive car, but has since been beaten by the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost (1910's vintage), and The Mercedes Benz CLK GTR.
Bugatti's were amongst the highest quality cars during prewar times. however, they went out of business during WW2. in the early 90's, an Italian guy resurrected the company, and created the EB110. it had a powerful turbo-charged V12, and could easlily reach 200 MPH. that car didn't do to well on the market, however, due to the now unknown name. just as shop was going to close, Volkswagen Bought them, and gave them enough money to produce the ultimate supercar, which they have so wonderfully done.
thank you.
