the right to bear arms or the right to arm bears?
i am from australia, so i do not fully understand america's gun laws ... so if im completely wrong about this let me go ... im curious: sports shooter hunter people can get armour piercing bullets. WHY ?!?! is ther a giant deer out in the woods armed to the teeth goin "Make my day" ?!? i wonder when it will be perfectly legal for you to walk down town with a bazooka on your shoulder just in case you get shot up by some .22's from a preschool you walk past. Then i can get into some serious real life GTA3 [This message has been edited by ahriman (edited 12-01-2002).]

Actually, you can't get true armor-piercing bullets, or at least not bullets specially designed to pierce armor. You can, of course, get a BIGGER bullet, assuming you have a gun chambered for it.
A lot of bullets were declared to be "armor piercing" by the Clinton Administration in an attempt to get as much ammo banned as possible - including, at one extreme low point, even standard .22 rimfires. I despise George Bush, but god am I glad that stupid psycho is gone.

I dont know much bout the poliitical scene. You think the libertatian party will be as strong as the republican and democratic parties sometime in the future? It be nice to have more then two parties in our system.

Your view of america is unrealistic. Just because our constitution says everyone has the right to bear arms does not mean the goverment respects that right. Most people here are unarmed and dont know any thing about guns except "guns evil." because the media pushes that view on the people. So most people vote for gun control. Any one who open carries today in america would most likely be considered a terriost.

Re: the right to bear arms or the right to arm bears?
No, I don't think that the Libertarian Party will be as strong as the Republicans and Democrats. But why vote for people you hate? Kinda defeats the whole point of democracy, no?
The best hope for us LPers is to gain a solid electoral base, in hopes of mounting a significant enough threat to the Republican Party that they have to adopt some of our platform. Even that doesn't look real likely.
