Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
Doesnt the US constitution state that a MILITIA has the right to bear arms? I dont care to check, but Ive always thought thats what it stated, and in turn always have believed that "the rights for citizens to bera arms" in the us was a misconception that no one cares to correct. I dont care, own all the guns you want, I just wanna be corrected if wrong......

according to the national guard act the militia is comprised of all abled bodied men between the age of 18-45, beyond this the clause of the necisity of militia is subordinate to the right of firearms ownership.

What the...??? National Guard Act??? Try this instead: Sec.8(Re:Article 1) of the U.S.Constitution: "To rise and support Armies...To provide and maintain a Navy; To make Rules for the Government and the Regulation of the land and naval Forces; To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; To provide for organizing, arming, and discplining, the Militia and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress...." Amendment II. "A WELL REGULATED Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep ad bear arms, shall not be infringed." Every freakin' member of the GOA and NRA-being verbally challenged, conveniently overlooks Sec.8 when they go on their diatribes about their alleged "inherent right" to carry arms! That nonsense about personal rights to carry weapons was based on Samuel Colt's slick propaganda campaign circa 1830! Pish posh!!! How dumb can "weekend warriors" be, to have bought into that drivel so easily? Most of the Colonial population was comprised of farmers. They didn't have money to "blow" on expensive weaponry, all their earnings were tied up in agriculture and the land. Personal arms were reserved for the wealthy and rising middle classes who had the leisure time to pursue hunting game!

Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
I'm a member of the NRA just because it lets me shoot at their matches and at the Whittington center and it gets me discounts on shit every now and then. Yet I have alot of questions. Have they really changed very much? I haven't really seen them stop any major gun control laws. Did they really do anything to slow Clinton down? They have humongous amounts of members in cali, yet cali gun owners get pushed around nonstop. They helped Bush get elected because he was pro gun(so did I) yet he hasn't done anything to significantly help gun owners. They didn't do anything that I could see when New Mexico repealed it's CCW laws. They didn't even do anything to help pass that law. I don't see any pro gun bill boards or commercials from them like I do the JPOG and the GOA. It seems like all they do is give lipservice just like the politicians that they are supposed to be fighting for us. They spoke agains the Brady Bill, yet it got passed. They lobby against alot of bills in Washington, yet they still get passed. I know people say that they need more members, but they are already huge. If that amount of people still doesn't have enough pull to accomplish anything, then what will. I have guns that are off paper just incase all the gun control groups succeed. They seem to make more progress than gun rights groups do.

Do you take brath mints to drown the stink of the bullshit that flows forth from your mouth. If you have never heard of the national guard act and its legal definitions thats your fucking problem. Don't act like its not a peice of law because you don't know about it, Furthermore If you read jefferson and the federalist papers its clear that the right to bear arms was intended for private citizens for reasons of personal defence and to overthrow an opressive government.

Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
the worst thing you can do to throw away the 2nd amendment whether you own a gun or not, is to be a pacifist. If you don't speak you won't be heard, making it easy for lawmakers to shave the 2nd ammendment down to nothing. Of course the more voices the better. I encourage people to join the nra. even though they don't make a great deal of difference in these insane gun laws that get passed. But, any difference in the right direction is good.

Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
The "Right to bear Arms" could be argued and nitpicked to death - as to wheather it is within a militia or the American citizen - it would appear to me that is every American's right to bear arms.
As a female my father taught me to shoot, clean and maintain weapons and above all respect guns at a very young age. They were not toys. Guns, firearms, whatever you may term them can be used for defense, hunting (which I believe if you kill you should eat) or collected as works of art. You may lose money on your diamonds but I've never lost money on a gun. I don't see how there can be so much hype on something that should be a simple freedom. Yes, i support the NRA and I would gladly support the legalization of mariajuana, prostituion and a little more honesty on the "War on Drugs in America". While I am at it leave the abortion issue alone and all this bullshit about DNA testing so women who have documented one night stands which result in a man being a father can collect money is a bunch of rubbish.
What I am trying to say is I believe it is my right to bear arms. If we are invaded I certainly won't be caught unaware. If you do something take responsiblity for it - trick fucking is for the birds and - yeah guess what I am a woman. As for the war on drugs - he who gets the most government funding gets to be the "Top Dog" - they get more confiscated cars, personal belongings, drugs for own personal use - and guess what? THE BIG ONE CASH!!!!! That seems to be everyones favorite. As for prostitution - legalize it and tax it and make it medically safe. Here is the cincher this is from the biggest overgrown, pompous, self-righteous, ignorant, town of overflowing politicians in the US - the biggest overgrown cowtown ever!!! My views aren't very well taken here.

Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
Unfortunately i live in the peoples republik of kanada, and all I can say is protect your rights! I remember a time when all you needed was a firearms certificate and the money to buy an ar-15. My buddys were all hunters so they werent affected when these rifles became restricted. Why would you want something like that, they said. Now you need a permit to buy ammo, and if you want a liscence to buy a gun its about as comfortable as a cavity search at a border crossing and take 10 million times longer if youre lucky! Our scumbag Mps (members of parliment)either were conveniently not around or changed their minds at the last second when it came time to vote on bill C-68. Protect your rights with everything youve got, dont let the bastards do to you what theyve done to us!

Re: Save our Guns and Save our Rights!
I definitely think that the Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms, but let's remember that, regardless of legal justification or lack thereof, every living being has an absolute, inherent right to defend itself. If a gun is the most effective way of doing so, then so be it.
P.S. Libertarian Party kicks vast quantities of statist ass.
