Re: Charge a very large capacitor
You can make a capacitor out of a bucket, salty water and beer bottles. I forgot the exact method but google it.

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
A good solution for finding a large capacitor with a charging circuit would be to find one of those capacitor+charging circuit things that power umbrella flashs used in photagraphy. I had one a few years back, and damn it was powerful. If you're willing to settle for less you could buy a cheap stun gun and take it apart, or even a cheap camera with a flash.
What are you planning on using this for?

A powerful tazer-like device. Would it work to buy like 3 disposable cameras and hook their flash devices up in series?

Maybe it's just me. But, lately I've noticed that as soon as someone mentions "capacitor" ,everyone it seems, thinks of railguns. Let's remember that just because something has a capacitor, doesn't make the device a railgun (or their unidentified project for that matter).

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
If you don't know what you are doing, ie if you can't call up a surplus store and buy a bunch of huge caps and the rest of the stuff. And you need to ask whether to put them in series or not you should save yourself the time and money and possibility of getting zapped. Fucking with big caps is very dangerous.

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
I cannot buy a stungun, but I can get away with a cap easily (parents and laws)

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
FUCK YOU! I remeber when all the fuckin kids ran around with those "tazers" that they bought off of my friend for 5 bucks. They leave 2 burn markes on the back of your neck(bes palce to put them). and your muscle get really sore after 10 shocks! you have no clue how much I hate people like you that do this bullshit! And I knew this post was about tazers as soon as your mentioned capaciters.

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
No, I meant plug the device into my school's intercom line and watch the speakers go nuts.

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
Just run line voltage into the intercom, that should fry it if it isn't protected.

Re: Charge a very large capacitor
Splice a wall plug onto a plug that fits into the intercom, blast the sucker with 120V 60hz.
Mind you I don't advocate destroying public property, and you are going to get in huge shit.
