Blue tip matches?
I live in Ohio. I think that they have outlawed blue tip matches here. Can anyone tell me where you can find some. Online, in other states? Thanks

Re: Blue tip matches?
Strike anywhere matches (blue tips) arent illegal just that they dont sell em as much and vendors dont wanna sell em cuz they aint exactly safe seeing as most anything can light them. You can rub 2 of em together and they will light. U just gotta look hard. I seem to find them in the oddest places without even looking. lol i found my last box at a fucking gas station

Re: Blue tip matches?
Yeah.. that problem was a big one for the matches.. I wonder why they didnt decide to find a solution to them. Those things are soo much better then having to strike against a back of a piece of cardboard.. In my case.. I use lighters.. not as appealing as a match stick but you can play fireball with them and other interestinf tricks.

Re: Blue tip matches?
Actualy, the color has nothing to do with the match, they just dye it. However what you are refering to as blue tip matches also work underwater. What it is, is its just white phospherus (which has a tendency to burst into flames on contact with air) underneath a thin wax coating. When it is struck the phospherus is exposed to oxygen (whether it be in water or air) and burns. They were not outlawed in ohio (I live there too) they just don't make them here. You see, its very hard to ship matches when they burst into flames without warning, so they usualy only ship them to one or two states over.

Re: Blue tip matches?
Well.. theres always firesteel/cerium
Waterproof, won't become acidic when dipped in water (Magnesium Oxide) Develops a coating when left unused so it wont set your pocket on fire More info here: http://www.mycoolgadgets.com/default.asp?level=detail1&category=OUTDOORS&item=FIRESTEEL
*Waves his out* Too bad they won't react when set on fire... its a frictional effect that makes them burn... Fun for any bored pyro that has no rellevent care for flamable objects around them! (Hair gelly, sheets, clothes, etc)

Re: Blue tip matches?
I found some strike anywhere matches here in Ohio. The Amish have been hording them all. I had to go to Amish country, to a little store there. I guess they are not illgal here. Its just because they are so dangerous no one wants to sell them for fear of being sued.

Re: Blue tip matches?
The white phosphorus and wax matchs used to be freely available in my home town. You could buy them at the newsagent, they were very handy if you wanted to smoke a joint anywhere. All you needed were a few cheap pens, a joint and a few of those matches. Take the cartridges out of the pens and put matchs in some and joints/baccy/wacky baccy in the others. The matchs are dodgy though, many a time had they ignited inside the pens and melted the pens to shit. They stoped selling them though- because one night the little stand at the newsagents with them on fell off the counter, the firemen reckoned that several ignited when the boxes hit the floor, the heat ignited the others and the counter caught fire. The fire alarm went off and all the newsagent lost was the counter- they stopped selling them after that.

Re: Blue tip matches?
It does react with water, which is the second purpose of the wax coating.

Re: Blue tip matches?
yeah the green tip waterproof ones suck, i bought them at walmart being a dumbass thinking it ment they burned under water. their a bitch to lite and usually the tips snap off before they lite. about the strike anywhere matches i find it kind of funny that their banned in ohio because the kind i have are called " Ohio Blue Tip Matches".
