Re: Wood Pipes
No, lol, i'm mainly interested in how they hollow the wood out, I've seen pipes that are hollowed out at a like, 30 degree angle and such, i was just curious how. thats all

Re: Wood Pipes
The easy way:
Get the piece of wood you want to use for the pipe, it should actually be 2 to 3 times bigger than the actual pipe you want.
Drill your pipestem hole down through the wood (the sucky end).
After that, drill your bowl hole VERY slowly, the trick being to stop about 3/16 to 1/4 inch above the pipestem hole. Finish the bowl drilling with a small drill until you drill through to the pipestem hole.
Now shave down the chunk of wood until you have the end shape you want, being very carefull not to shave into the pipestem hole.
Load her up and smoke away, but you might want to burn it out a little first.

Re: Wood Pipes
i make loads of pipes all the time. its so easy, all you need is:
a bamboo cane half a macadamia shell epoxy resin
use your imagination, its too easy. the cane is hollow, the shell is fire proof, and the resin is to hold it all together.

Re: Wood Pipes
I make them sometimes. Get a branch and find a fairly thick piece. maybe an inch thick. Then find a thicker piece for the front. Um... let me see if i can draw it. nope. sorry I'd have to draw it on paper. Oh well.

Re: Wood Pipes
This isn't for a wooden pipe but its a classic from Mark Twain's day. Cut a corn-cob in-two about 2 inches from its end. Hollow it out as much as you can. Plug one end with a piece of wood(preferably willow). Cut/drill a hole near the bottom and make it large enough to accomodate a hollowed-out piece of river caine. Cut a length of cane, hollow it out with a nail or small drill bit. Stick it in the corncob, and if you do it right it will stay in place. Thats as far as my pipe making goes.
