does anyone by any chance have any type of plans to make my own laser? typicaly i want the beam emmited to be as thin as the head of a push pin..and i wan't to set it up so that when it is being 'shot/aimed' at a plate of somesort, if someone disrupts the flow of light...i.e. walks through it...i want a signal te be sent to me.

A laser is a bitch to make on your own. Try using an infrared beam, although I don't quite know how it'd have to go. We have one here in our community at Radio Shack and one at our local library...try looking at one if you can find it(hell, try swiping it if you can). The RS one makes a small 'ting', while the library one makes a LED flash. speaking of Radio Shack, they sell nice motion detectors if that's what you want. Buy one and see if you can make it yourself, then return the original one.

i once bought an infrared kit from rainbow kits for like 15 bucks, i built it and added my own "special modifications, and made them in nice pretty boxes. they worked really well and had a distance of like 10 feet. i set up a latching circuit, too, so once someone crossed it it would keep ringing even after they settped out of the beam. it was so cool, and i was so proud of myself. i set it up in the hall to know when my parents were coming. unfortunately, i wasnt doing anything i had to hide. now they (the transmittor and the reciever) just sit in my closet and collect dust. it was fun while it lasted.

buy a laser from maplin or another electronics store and then shine it at a photo electric switch, play around with some relays and you have a laser trip.

get a "laser pointer" then put a gamma ray charge in it (not as complex as it sounds) it wont burn anyone or anything tho

no that would be bad because then you can see the laser, while the infrared beam is invisible

invisible good, burning bad..i made it..it works okay but i think i'm going to do some renovations to my house to hide it better..instead of on the floor, i have it about 2' off the ground so that way you cant really walk over it or crawl under it.

i've got an idea...
just use a trip wire...like the other guy said "stop trying to go james bond"!
lasers are good, but hiding them is a different story all together.
trip wires can be set up so that when they are pulled by someone `tripping' on them....a pin comes out of somewhere they can't get to and an alarm or something won't stop until you disarm it.
it's a good idea...and it works great!
