Does anyone here brew their own beer? I used to brew a lot, but haven't done any brewing in the last ten years or so. I'm thinking of starting up again. If I make some Christmas ales in September they'd be perfectly aged come the holidays.

Never tried. did you see the schnaps and other random drinks stuff in a bag too? How would that even work?

My dad used to brew beer, but I dont think he ever got very good at it. I don't really remember, cos I was lil and too busy killing ants and doing all those other nice little girl things to go around drinking beer

my god... i started drinking when i was 10. like bout bi monthly i had a couple shots of irish whiskey (shit burns all the way down. its keen.) i probobly have some of the worst liver problems... i hope it dosen't explode... i don't drink heavily. usually a shot or two of irish whiskey a week. not bad stuff, scept that it burns all the way down.

Those beer in a bag things can't work because there are three important things you have to do when making beer.

The first one is you need to remove most of the dead yeast from the primary fermentation vessel before you bottle it, otherwise you'll be drinking lots of yeast.

The second thing you need to do is run a secondary fermentation under pressure, otherwise you'll be drinking flat beer.

The third thing is, you need to age it for at least 4 weeks (preferrably eight), otherwise it tastes like crap.

Beer brewed in a bag doesn't do any of these things, so guess what? It tastes like crap.

Well, they do filter out the yeast and I know the instructions are to let it sit for serveral months.

Couldn't you just add Mountain Dew to solve the flat problem?

Well, stout is what I'd call real beer. If you mean lager by "beer beer" than you are mistaken. Lager is beer sissiefied. You might as well drink cherry coke with a cherry in it.

Duh, no I don't mean lager. I'm british remember? We know a lot more about beer than americans who call everything beer.

In england, if you ask for beer in a pub, you get Bitter. Much stronger and nowhere near as sweet tasting as Lager. If you want lager in england, you have to say you want it.

Ever had Killians? It's made by the same people who make guiness and it's pretty nice. It's not stout, it's just really really substantial tasting beer. I had a Killians pint glass once, but someone broke it.

Oh, and ever had Cherry Beer?

I had that in belgium, where they make copious amounts of really nice beer, and it was gooooddd. Spent a whole day trawling round every bar in the town we were in to sample the local "culture"

Answer me this though, why is it, you can buy budweiser in England, and Budweiser in america, and the alchohol content in the american budweiser would be lower?
