I was thinking about making a bomb using a plastic tabacco can filled with shot gun powder.rocket primer in the midle to light it.then wrap it up in like 10 rolls of electrition tape.how big would this explosion be?how far away would be a good distance to set it off from(need to know how much wire to get.this will work right?the only thing I wasn't sure of is if the gun powder wouldn't be fully ignighted when it explodes and I don't want to waste any powder.

Sound like a waste, just put some of that powder in a 2 liter bottle and you will have better results.

those small contianers that red neck carry around, with the chewing tobbaco inside? I dont think it would be that big. It would be loud, but nothin really big. If ou do decide to make it, 10 rolls of tape is too much.

well what i mean is i have tried to make many bombs out of BP. it just never worked for me

that is becuase you pack the powder, and your cases arent thick enough.

where are you getting your black powder? the stuff in shotgun shells are not black powder. I cant remember, but it is either pyrodex or smokeless powder(nitrocellouse), and they burn slower than black powder, but can be used in salutes. When you do make them, do not pack the powder, only fill it up about 1/2 for now, and make sure to use really hard end plugs(epoxy).

flash is the best for bombs. its burn rate is so much faster then BP or smokeless. a good use for BP is pretty much for rockets

I have a friend who reloads his own shells and I just get it from him.won't this work in a bomb if not what can I use this shit for?

It is nitrocellulose. Take the powder from several rockets and make a low explosive detonator to detonate it.

����You could probably get away with putting the smokeless powder in a heavy metal container and adding a fuse. Smokeless is generally not as good for making salutes (read: small nondestructive bombs) as black powder.
����The tobacco can won't work for two reasons. First, it is made of thin plastic and is not a strong container. Second, it has no way of holding itself shut. Low explosives produce their explosions by bursting whatever casing they are in. If the casing is not strong enough to provide confinement for the explosive there will be no exlposion - Just a lot of fire and wasted powder.

the powder in shotgun shells is not black powder but smokeless powder. BP is much more better to use in firecrackers. Why waste all that powder when you could make a whole bunch of little firecrackers that are still fun?

You could always go to a hardware store and get some half inch PVC pipe, some endcaps, and PVC cement. Cut the pipe just short enough so the two endcaps meet when you push them together. Glue one endcap on, drill a hole in the pipe just big enough for the fuse, fill the pipe half full with smokeless powder, and glue the other endcap on. These things are expensive and produce a lot of plastic shrapnel, but it's about the only thing you can do with smokeless powder.

hmm i wouldnt use a tobacoo can. try using somthing smaller like film canisters. also use FFF BP. it burns quickest if my anarchist cookbook memmory serves me. cotton, film canister, gun powder or BP, cannon fuse u can buy from any local hobby shop. it would be enough to blow your fingers clean off, and small enough to carry lots around like hand grenades.

why would anyone buy the anarchits cookbook for money when all the info sucks and most doesnt work, when you couuld get better info for free online? and for the film canister that would work good if you cant get real tubes, just wrap it in a couple layers of ducktape

i like BigPapas idea. The thing is that from what i heard, end caps dont seen to hold the well. Even though when you use end caps, you get more powder, the seem to blow out a lot. I am not very sure of this, this is only from what i heard. If they happen to work well, make sure the tubes and the caps are at least 1/8 inch thick, becuase smokeless needs lots of confinment.

If I remember correctly, smokeless powder can be detonated as a high explosive with a bit of primary. So if you happen to have a few grams of AP lying around, you're set. If you have no idea what AP is, don't bother. If you use it as a HE or a LE, you'll still need some good confinement.

a good 3 grams flash salute should be able to detonate smokeless powder.

I can give you a design for a redneck warhead. Get one fat rx bottle and one small. fill small 3/4 with GP dump powder onto seran wrap and ad a couple drops of gas. wrap it up tight and cut off excess seran wrap stuff it in the small bottle tied end at bottem. then drop in a few to a dozen touch explosives crystals [depends on size and streangth] put the cap on tight and this is your detonator put this in th larger bottle and pack MSAC or C4 around it put lid on and wrap it in duct tape not to much on the large cap or it might not go off. put this on the end of a 4 foot dowel put a G size or larger rocket engine behind it and your done. dont shake it or hit it. The touch explos ar suposed to ignite on impact lighting the GP and MSAC.

remember this is theory i thought it up last night in bed.
