is there a way to detonate ANFO with out using something sensitive like AP??

I've used the search and can't find anything.

Ap isnt that sensitive. Plus, it is easy to make and cheaper than most other explosive.

HMTD works but can be sensitive. Mercury/silver fulminate and petn also come to mind.

yeah, i think the potassium fulimate would detonate it too. I am not sure, but i think that HMTD is more powerful than AP, and a little more stable.

I can never get a good batch of HMTD and I rarely get hexamine anyways, so I stick with AP.

Silver fuliminate most likey wont detonate AN, about 1 gram is the most you should make at one time and its not enought to blow AN pure.

For ANFO, you need a primary. And I mean a lot of primary. Upwards of 20-40 grams of primary or primary and a booster. There have recently been some topics on this.

what would a good booster be that isn't really sensitive?

I'm not sure about any good booster explosives that are easy to make, but silver acetylide is a good primary explosive that is both more powerful and more stable than AP.

i dont think that you would need 20 to 40 grams to detonate AN. I have heard of people who got it to detonate with only 5 grams every single time. I would do 10 to 15 for insurance.

����20 to 40 grams is a rather ridiculous amount of acetone peroxide. Is it just me or do your numbers keep getting bigger every time you suggest that?
����I still say 10 grams pressed would be enough for well made ANFO.

Just a reminder, if you are using HMTD to set somethng off, when handling it and storing it, don't let it touch metals.
