Re: AP
No. Single-use sealed cell batteries like AA, C, and D's no not contain useful amounts of any sort of acid. To wit, they're called "alkaline" batteries...

Re: AP
i dont think you aabsolutly need sulferic acid, i think that any catalyst will work. You dont even need a catalyst, mixing the h2o2 and the acetone together will make AP, but it is a lot slower than with a catylist.

Re: AP
You can use sulfuric acid from drain cleaner or straight HCl from the hardware store- as was mentioned countless times. Without a catalyst it could take inordinately large amounts of time to form.

Re: AP
I have used oxalic and acetic acid to make acetone peroxide before...It took like 2 months to get a tiny amount of crystals but it still worked...

Re: AP
you don't need sulfuric acid. You can use HCL or something. Find a good drain opener and read what it has in it. It should have sulfuric acid. Don't get the one with sodium hydroxide.

Re: AP
I just was at home depot and found some toilet bowl opener, with HCL. Any minreal acid will work for AP.

Re: AP
Toilet bowl cleaner is usually only about 14% HCl. Look for Muriatic acid, also known as brick cleaner, it's about the strongest HCl you can buy and it's pure. Most hardware stores carry it.

Re: AP
That pretty much covers it. I should note that battery acid is only ~40%, so you should add ~2.3x as much, and battery acid contains trace lead impurities.
