Default Possibly a new oxydizer ??

i found in a in a store a big shelf of Potassium metabisulfite "K2S2O5" im looking at that and i looked on the net and it says it is an oxydizer but im wondering if any one has ever used it ?? it just might be what im looking for actually if it works that is ... but i don't want to waste $15 to find out it is bunk and it is to damn big to steal so im asking here if any one knows

I wondered the samething about potassium persulfate that had 8 oxygen and was labled oxidiser. The thing is i discovered that only one oxygen atom is binded to the nitrogen atoms and the other 7 bound to the sulfur atoms. I think since its sulfite i think 2 or 3 oxygen atoms are binded to the sulfur making only a few aviable for ur reaction

It sounds like a weak oxidizer to me. That would explain why there are bottles of the stuff out on the shelf like breath mints. That would also explain why I haven't heard of any compositions that use it.

Potassium metabisulfite doesn't sound like it would be a good oxidiser. And for $15 (I'll assume per pound) it's hella expensive compaired with even stump remover KNO3. Sounds kinda pointless.

How bout potassium dichromate? K2Cr2O7 Here's what i found on it.

DANGER! STRONG OXIDIZER. CONTACT WITH OTHER MATERIAL MAY CAUSE A FIRE. CORROSIVE. CAUSES SEVERE BURNS TO EVERY AREA OF CONTACT. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED OR INHALED. AFFECTS THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM, LIVER, KIDNEYS, EYES, SKIN AND BLOOD. MAY CAUSE ALLERGIC REACTION. CANCER HAZARD. CAN CAUSE CANCER. Risk of cancer depends on duration and level of exposure.

Potassium dichromate is a high temperature oxidizer, is it not? I know it's used in some pyrotechnic compositions.

Isn't K2S2O5 just pottasium pernitrate?

Chemical nomenclature isn't that hard. It's easier when you have a list of polyatomic ions, though. ...now that I think about it, I won't bother trying.

The strongest oxidiser i can think of is potassium hymangate or something like kmno7.
