Match heads
When I tested mathch heads I found that safety matches made a bigger fireball but took longer to ignite than strike anywhere. I'm talking about british matches so
Safety = Brown tip Strike anywhere = Red tip
Just thought I would let you all no.

Re: Match heads
I've never seen brown tips on matches. White, sure, but no brown.

Re: Match heads
Standard book matches in the US are a single color. Their heads are all one piece. They come in all sorts of colors and hue really has no indication of what is in the match nor how it will perform. The same is true for our wooden stick 'safety matches', which are usually red or white headed but can be just about anything if you find the right brand.
The strike anywhere matches have a white or blue tip, normally, which is different in color from the rest of the head.
The color of a match head is a worthless indicator of the performance of the match. The best way to see if a match of a certain type is suitable is to burn one. If it goes up fast it will probably work. If it doesn't, don't bother...

Re: Match heads
If you're really desperate for chems, you can set up a chlorate cell. You don't need much equipment. Perchlorates are fun. Fuels are much easier to get.
La la.
peace out. sph3ric pyramid.
