I thought about adding fancy page graphics and background music but I just thought it would piss visitors off.

Um...you say to use Black Powder for m-80s...

Black powder works really good for salutes. Whats the problem?

You have to have the end plugs glued really tight for using black powder....Most of the time it just pops the end plugs out with a not that load but low BOOM or POOF.....Flash powder works alot better...

Yeah, firework salutes rarely have black powder as their report composition.

Black powder is about 90 percent as loud as flash powder, is a lot cheaper, and is safer. The older M-80s used gun powder. Plus, the plugs do not need to be glued in that tight, because black powder burns almost the same speed as flash powder.

In all my tests...Black powder sucked....

Well then you are not useing good black powder. My black powder, even the black powder from model rocket engines goes poof when 1/2 teaspoon is igntied. Flash powder usually burns about 1 1/2 seconds for 1/2 teaspoon. The only thing better about flash powder is it releases more heat.

Black powder sucks for tubes with thin cases, but a tube 1/8 inch thick sounds just like an M-80 with flash powder.

Good flash powder will burn several times faster than black powder. That's just all there is to it.

Salutes can indeed be made with black powder, but they generally need to be better thought out and constructed for them to work as well.

I just made 600 mesh aluminum/ 5 micron potassium perchlorate and got some powder from d rocket engines. 1/2 teaspoon rocket powder made a poof sound, and burned in about 3/4 second, with a small shockwave. The 1/2 teaspoon flash powder burned in about 1/4 second, with a clear, but weak shockwave.

Like Zero said, good flash powder does burn faster than black powder, about 3 times as fast, but black powder can be used in salutes.

It is feasable to construct salutes with black powder. First, it must be finely powdered black powder as this burns faster. Second, the case must be relatively thick. Finally, the end plugs must be glues in tightly. Still, for a salute, mediocre flash is better than perfect bp.

I'll change the BP to Flash powder then. Thanks.

Put some bp in a tube but dont seal it in any way except for at the bottem, when you lite it it makes a small mushroom cloud of smoke.

Sort of a waste of bp though. Were can I get some flash powder, what kind of fireworks?

You could empty a lot of laydyfingers, M-88s, or the report comp. that is in the ends of the bottle rockets. I would empty out whistlers, and mix the white powder(whistle mix) with the flash powder, and you got a powder perfect for salutes. It is about as good as flash powder 7/3 pot.per/ aluminum 600 mesh.

Your site is most excellent and the layout is great! I approve. Although there is still not enough information on the site yet, I am going to recommend it.

If I have to make a criticism, it would be that there are no links to chemical suppliers.

Yeah, that is more like it.
I do not have much more to say, becuase it is already a good site, and you say you will be posting pictures on the 6, and that is what makes most sites good, but I would write your own stuff, instead of posting from other sites. If you decide not to, it is still a good site.
