some questions
I have 3 questions. First what is armstrongs mix. Second what did Kurt Saxon do to his hand and what did he do it with. If deus ex machina reads this did your AP work, can anyone point out if it would work. The formula is on his site.

Re: some questions
Armstrongs mix is a mixture of potassium chlorate, sulphur, red phosphorus, and possibly sand (to increase sensitivity more for toy caps).
Kurt Saxon ( famous father of Survivalism, and author of the Poor man's James bond and other survivalism books) supposedly had a fair amount of it in a mortar & pesel (SUICIDE!!!) and it blew up.

Re: some questions
Armstrong's Mix is a mixture of potassium chlorate and red phosphorus. It's rather friction sensitive, and is indeed the very same mixture that Kurt Saxon nearly took off his hand with.

Re: some questions
Jinx! looks like we both typed at the same time!
Anyways, I just read deus ex machina's formula, and it is vauge and innacurate. It states that you add the ice to the solution, but that is NOT what you do. And it missed the part of keeping the solution under 20C and about adding the catalyst slowly.
deus ex machina, you should immediatley take that formula down before someone makes some diametric AP. There is better formulas out there: http://roguesci.org/megalomania/explo/acetoneperoxide.html
Make sure you read the intro!

Re: some questions
There are two kinds of AP, dimmer and trimmer. (funny names huh?)
Anyway, the dimmer form comes from not keeping it cold enough while mixing. This form is more sensitive and less powerful.
I'm sure somebody else can give a more detailed explanation...
