Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Well, that's one way... I thought about it and figured your way was better than my way and tried it and made a little page about it HERE.

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Well, if you used black powder instead of pyrodex(even though you were out), it would of made an explosion. It doesnt have really anything to do with the casing.

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
a tin of beans or tinned pineapples still sealed and left on the fire for 15 minutes is always fun, especially when you aim it well

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
even if its a bit obvious, to make a decent fireball, get a can of flammable liquid aka. lynx, aorosol cleaning fluid, etc. put it on the floor, light a fire round it and shoot it with a gun/airgun/blowgun/crossbow (they all work. with a half-empty can of lynx the fireball is about 2 and a 1/2 metres high, with a big can of cleaning fluid its about 4 and a 1/2. (ps. tip a table over to hide behind when you shoot, a) if you enjoy having youre eyebrows (if youre too close like i was last time (3 feet away) but also b) the can has a nasty habit of flying away at extreme speeds, i havent been hit yet but i dont want to be. (i lost my eyebrows last time anyway)

Or you could take some gasoline compress it and throw it.

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Just backing up sph3ric pyramid here:
Igniting a pot/can full of wax and adding water will produce a small fireball. I used to do this some years ago by leaving a can half filled with burning wax at the bottom of a balcony and spitting into it from the top. Also note that as Genital-Warfare pointed out if you "dump" water into the can the wax is going to go out, not much water is needed (only a few ml).

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Or if you are a crust pussy, you could dip a toothpick in melted candle wax, water, and then hold it over a flame and it will produce a 3 inch blue flame.

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
I believe that a device called a lampare (or something spelled like that...) will produce a nice fireball. Note that i have not tried this, but heres the method ive heard to make one: quote: Get a can like a soup can and fill it with alcohol (not gasoline, as that would melt the next step). Take about 50 grams of black powder and a model rocket igniter (attached to the leads) and wrap it in plastic wrap. Put the bp and igniter in the bottom of the can of alcohol and ignite. Once again, I have not tried this, so be really really careful (as always) if you try this.
ok mom which is bigger if the volume is the same a propaine bomb or a gas bomb?

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Gasoline would make a bigger fireball, if you did it right. Propane would make a bigger boom, if you did that right.

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
Here is the RIGHT way to produce a fireball. 1) Paper tube Pyro type make or buy. I use 1" diameter x 5" long 2) Plug the base with dampened cat litter (makes clay) let dry 3) Drill a 1/8" fuse hole about 1/2" up from the inside of the plug. 4) fill the tube 1/2" with black powder 5)next level=mix 2 crumbled and pulverized moth balls (nathelene)with black powder 30% Moth Balls and 70% Black Powder make this level about 1 1/2" deep. 6) Next level place 2" to 3" pure powdered moth balls (Napthelene)this makes a BEAUTIFUL RED FIREBALL about 15 to 20 feet in diameter. 7) Place in ground, light fuse and get away. if the moth ball smell dont make you sick you will be more than satisified with your atomic fireball

Re: Big Fireballs/Mushroom Clouds
I've found that the napathalene will work in either mixture, but in order for it to work it must be ground into a very fine powder. Most instructions leave that part out. If you don't powder it well you get a dull little pop and mothball chunks everywhere, but no fireball.
