fuses (again!)
Hey i know i have asked about this b4, but nothing really worked. I have searched for this everywhere and i cant find anything. Sadly as of yet the only slightly useful thing i have been able to get my hands on is matches, and lots of them. All i need now is a reliable method of fusing my devices. I have tried making a really ting line of match head powder down a strip of tape and then rolling the tape up, but it burns straight through instantly. mixing the match head powder in water and soaking string/paper/all sorts of other things in it dont work very well, it goes out far too easily and doesnt burn when confined. there is no way i can get potassium nitrate either, i have tried pretty much everywhere. so can anyone either tell me a fool proof source of KNO3 in the UK so i can use the KNO3/sugar mix, or tell me anyway to use the match head chemical to amke fuses(some1 sed it was potassium chlorate i think)btw they are safety matches. thanx in advance

Re: fuses (again!)
According to my sources, potassium nitrate fertilzer can be had quite easily in the UK. Go up to the counter at the gardening place and ask for it.

Re: fuses (again!)
you cant find potassium nitrate (saltpetre)? it can be used as a substitute for salt and preserving meats. yoiu should be able to find it in any drugstore unless its banned from your country. but for a fuse try stretching out a cottonball so its stringy and rub glue into it then mix the match head powder in.

Re: fuses (again!)
Instead of using tape for your fuse, you could use tissue paper or sumthing breathable, this will stop it burning down instantly. The casing of tea bags work well because they are strong. Also after youve rolled it, if you twist it then paint it with white out it will hold together tightly, i used to use these in polumnas with no problems. They take a long time to make though.

Re: fuses (again!)
this is what i have done i have mixed KNO3 in with sugar 3:1 ratio then i mix it slowly into warm water till you can not desolve any more then i take a peice of paper (some thin real porus) not like priter paper or news paper or any thing but the blotter paper and i let it soak for about 5 min in the water then i take it out and let it dry (or i jus take a blow dryer to it) then all you do is rollit up or cut into strips

Re: fuses (again!)
Sparklers are indeed quite useful.
I use fabric for my fuse rolls. It just seems to work better.

Re: fuses (again!)
I might have the reason, why your match thing didn't work out: Some safety matches heads are merely glue and glasspowder - the stuff you wanted is on the paper at matchbox's side.
For "slow" thread - soak linen farbic in that stuff they use when barbecuing (names, names... bloody English...) It works fine also for torches. So that's feakin' simple, but if it works, I don't complain... gives me enough time to run...
