I read in a maxim magazine about a cheap trick called the butane powered car.

It said something about taking a 2L coke bottle and filling it with butane, then cap it and put a hole in the top; attach wheels and lite.

When I tried it a slow burning flame came out instead of the fast WHOOSH! that was supposed to happen.

Can anyone tell me how do do it right?

need some form of pressure or if you can get the flame to burn inside of the 2liter then it would combst and the gas might be forced out and cause it to move

you probably need to put less fuel into the bottle, too much and there isn't enough air in there so it burns slowly as it comes out of the neck.

try hydrogen and oxogen mixture
make it go fast if u cant find some u can make both out of water by running electicity though it

id use methylated spirits, because u cant overfill it and it goes further. u just gotta shake it up a bit. they dont go very far in general though.
hydrogen and oxygen would blow up not move it.

You probly just made you hole too big. Make about the size of a bb maybe less.

I tried something like this a while back... i used Aluminum + Water + Lye to generate Hydrogen gas..and just for kicks, i held a butaine torch to the gas in the bottle.

It made a huge tower of fire, which lasted very briefly, a "THOOMP" noise (sounded like a grenade launcher), and the bottle nearly flew out of my hand. You can try using Hydrogen...

oh ok i see what your doing i thought you had the cap on still and it had a hole in it well it will work but you need to get the flame inside the bottle so like tie a mathc to a stick and light the match and stick it in there im going to try this tonight see if i can get it to work

I've heard of people using bic lighters and beer bottles to make little flames, then one dude put too much butane in and when lit the bottle flew out of his hand.

i do that all the time but it burns the hair off your hand and it is HOT !!! lol bt it won't burn to bad lol it works very well if you get the hang of it you can shoot cans at people but i really so no point seems how you can just huck it at there head
