Atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki-anyone pride?!
I don't want to 'wake up the deads' but I was wondering:if the nazi would dropped two atomic bombs over 2 cities in U.S.A.,Germany would still exist? Does anyone thinks that the 2 atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki were right? Some kind of large, real,'in vivo' experiment? Of course, none of us is responsible but are the Americans pride? Some kind of weapons must not be used(since it is impossible to eliminate them...).

Re: Atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki-anyone pride?!
i agree with (i think it was truman's?) decision to drop the a-bomb, but i wish we didnt have to. we needed something to kinda show japan that "who the boss was" and to know we werent gonna take it. it scared the shit out of them, and they quit messing with us, so i guess it worked. i still wish that the conflict between the us and japan never existed, because no one is glad by the effects created by those two bombings.
i hope i dont get flamage for this, i have nothing against japan.

Re: Atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki-anyone pride?!
Well, we already had the Japanese pretty much beaten in the Pacific, but i think the dropping was and wasn't a good idea.
It was good because like unstable said, it showed them who was boss. But why'd did we have to drop 2, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And why those two? Why not Kure or Naha, they were more key to the Japanese in the war anyway.
It wasn't good because it showed the rest of the world what kind of power and intelligence we had and here came the spies. It would have been excellent if we were still the only country with nuclear weapons. We'd have total control. But then came the Russians who found out how to produce them, and i've nothing against Russians or the USSR but, they'd sell anything for money. Now there are 6(?) countries with nuclear weaponry: USA, Russia, India, France, Britain, Iraq, Pakistan.....ok so there are more than 6. Well that we know of. So yuh, that's my 3 cents.
By the way, i do know Russia is now known as the USSR but i wasn't sure what to call the citizens of the USSR, USSRians?
I'm not predujice against any nationality.

Re: Atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki-anyone pride?!
Another thing that irks me about the droppings is that after they surrendered we helped them rebuild their country. Hell, we paid for most of it and they took their money and put into technology. Which is why they're the richest country in techonlogy. Or is Taipan? Oh well, they're still living large because we paid for all their losses, maybe Truman felt guilty for deforming 5 generations of families in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Re: Atomic bombs from Hiroshima and Nagasaki-anyone pride?!
the dropping of the atomic bomb saved lives, american and japanesse. In the case an invasion the projected death toll was 6 million japanese 1 million Americans. As it happened the war ended with the death of about a quarter million japanese, mathmaticly more humane. furthermore, There is in my opinion no moral issues about dropping an atomic bomb on a nation which used biological warfare extensively to kill more than 1 million people, or one that killed one third of a million and raped as many in one massacre.
P.s. the firestorm at dresden, 135,000 dead, killed more people than the bombing of hiroshima, 80,000 dead. there were tens of firestorms, Mass bombing raids conducted against germany, which caused a vortex of flame that sucked air persons and feul into itself at speeds of 200 miles an hour.
