Explosives from Bleach?
I've heard that you can make explosives from Bleach and a salt substitute (potassium chloride... I think) and wondered if anyone knew about this explosive, the procedure that is taken to make it and hoe to detonate, or best use if it is a low-order explosive...

Re: Explosives from Bleach?
The product is potassium chlorate. This process works but the yield is pathetic. Potassium chlorate can be used as an oxidizer in flash powder and can also be detonated as a (weak) high explosive.

Re: Explosives from Bleach?
ok cool thanks for that.
yes, potassium chlorate is a very powerful oxidizer and makes some of the most powerful flash powder, but makes it too sensitive, which is why its not used very much.
and i didnt know that potassium chlorate can by itself be detonated as a high explosive. you can also mix it with vaseline, which is petroleum jelly, (the amount doesnt really matter, just enough to hold all of the potassium chlorate), and it can be detonated with a blasting cap. its pretty weak, but it works if its all you can get.
