Re: Astrolite A-1-5?
This is what I would call an explosive myth. astrolite is amonium nirate and hydrazine, and it's not all that powerful, more of a special aplication thing. It would be very hard to get your hands on hydrazine anyway, not to mention that it's a toxic carcinogen. Don't waist your time on the stuff there's easier and more powerful things to make.

Re: Astrolite A-1-5?
it uses a funny metal case, which causes it to implode rather than expode, and it sucks in air from surrounding areas and creates a miniature firestorm. approx 1.2 mile radius.
Apparently

Re: Astrolite A-1-5?
It is a pretty powerful power explosive. When nuclear testing was first banned above ground, they used tons of it to simulate a nuclear blast. It was never as powerful as a nuclear blast, but close enough to gather good data on the heat generated and blast affects. It is a mixture of hydrazine and ammonium nitrate. It is very unstable and very toxic. Hydrazine is very hard to come by, not many chemical supply houses carry for it's complications. Germans used it to propel rocket powered planes, many of which exploded during refueling or take off. Not something worthwhile to play with.
