improvised cheap plastic
ive had an idea and just wondered what "THE REAL" thinks as he seems to be the only one round here who researches anything any way i do a lot of reloading and sometimes i strip large amounts of centerfire rifle cartriges for the brass so i end up with heaps of powder of different types so i was wondering if i was to wet this powder grind it down finer with a motar and pestle.Dry it.Then mix it with p/jelly as a plastisier. Then set it of with an improvised det.The main reason id like to use this is the easy avalibility of the powder i.e no dangerous home chem lessons etc.And it seems such a waste of good powder other wise.thanks for any replys anyway

Re: improvised cheap plastic
Or boughten from a chem supply.
Why don't you reuse the powder? It's not bad or anything after reloading. Or is it surplus ammo from ages ago?
Rifle powder is single based consisting mostly of nitrocellulose and a graphite coatiing and a little sawdust. If it is military powder from age old surplus rounds, it may be deteriorated. If this is the case does the powder smell sour? If so discard it. If not cool.
I don't know if that will work. I don't see why it wouldn't but I suggest trying it with a whole lot of powder to a little bit of pj and using quite a cap.

Re: improvised cheap plastic
well the powder i do have is reclaimed from shit x mill spec ammo i just pull the projectiles dump them and dump the powder in one tin due to the fact that there are so many different brands of powder i cant be fucked trying to reclaim it.Any way my Sako loves thoose 55 grain ballistic tips with some vectan tu2 powder which is dirt cheap anyway. So why bother trying to save chinese powders. And as far as a det is concerned im intending to use a 22mag case full of matchheads epoxy resin the end with a wire to a battery. What eva happens happens beat dumping the powder,.

Re: improvised cheap plastic
Mix your powder with a little acetone (toluene might work) and stir until the mix is like thick porridge. Force into a container, or hand-mold into desired shape. Allow to dry. This product is called Nipolite, and it can be detonated with a blasting cap.

Re: improvised cheap plastic
oh my god fallen, that is so not going to fucking work. You don't even know what a detonator is, do you? They have PRIMARY EXPLOSIVES in them, sometimes a booster charge to boot. I think to detonate it, you ned a #8 blasting cap, fucking match head..... christ almighty, i haven't been here for a while, but god, Real or Alan, set him straight

Re: improvised cheap plastic
does any1 here know where to get blasting caps in the uk? Everywhere I've seen you need a licence to buy em, even though there not meant to be regulated.

Re: improvised cheap plastic
take an empty shell from a rifle bullet drill trough the back thread a fuse through it compress .75 grams of hmtd and one gram piric acid or rdx fill any reaining space in the cap with what youre detonating ie the secondary explosive.
