electronic timers
Can someone give me a schematic diagram of an electronic timer? The one you can setup from a minute to an hour, I would be using it to fire rockets and detonate some explosives.

Re: electronic timers
Um...ever seen one of those movies where they drilled a hole in an analog clock face, and stuck in one end of the circuit on a pin, and then set the other end of the circuit on the other pin on the hand of the clock? Those theoretically do work.

Re: electronic timers
not just theoreticallly, those have been used by terrorists for years, for a longer delay remove the second and minute hand. for informational purposes only, the author doesnt take any responsibility for your actions, construction of these devices may violate various state and federal laws.

Re: electronic timers
Buy an electronic time that beeps when it goes off. Remove the piezo speaker and wire those two leads to a relay of the proper voltage, probably 1.5v or less. Not enough current though to detonate most devices. But you can run a lead wire through the relay that will have from a separate power source. Use that, but make it weather proof.

Hey Real. As far as I know American Science And Surplus is only a local store, not like a chain. And I have one right by me. So where do you live?

buy a cheepo alarm clock a digital one take the leads to the speaker and send them to a small christmas tree light bulb which you should fill with powdered match heads this is your priimer.

American Science and Surplus does offer a catalogue for mail order and yes I live in the great city of Columbus, OH. Not much for city living myself, I hate rush hour traffic, but I do love working in a lab.

Re: electronic timers
Keep in mind how relays work. That relay would probably need a separate power source. Sounds like the watch could close the relay, but you will need a more powerful supply for the ignitor to go off.

Re: electronic timers
ooh boy most of what I learned was in a high school electronics class and tinkering around with my dad (an electrician in the USMC for 20yrs). I would have to say hit the library and look up basic electronics, schematic reading, and some EE books.

Re: electronic timers
I made an electronic timer some time ago, I used a 12V relay, which was what I had (I made a small circuit for the relay to activate with the clock alarm). The circuit is shitty, but it works. With a 1V relay, it's much easier, just connect it to the speaker and throw the spk. away. Then connect a 9V battery to the relay, which burns a 1N4148 diode when the relay closes. A small diode such as the 1N4148 will easily burn with a 9v bat.(other diodes don't) and ignites any kind of gunpowder, matches, etc, which could set off the blasting cap for a high explosive. It usually takes 3 seconds for the diode to make the bomb explode.

Re: electronic timers
You can buy diodes at radio shack right?, cause I tried to buy some online and they only sold a minimum of 10,000 for $150.

Re: electronic timers
I would go to remote control with what you are doing. This is what you need .First about 60$ dollars.Go to your local hobbie shop and get a 2 chanel raido , it comes with 2 servos a reciver,a remote controll and a battery pack . get the one with the 2 sticks on the raido ,NOT the one with the trigger and the wheel!!! Get a small wood box to put everything in about 6x8 inches and 3 inches high. First look how it all works if you plug everything together (the 2 servos the reciver and the battery pack) the 2 servos and the battery pack plug into the reciver the reciver picks up the raido signals from the raido the raido has two sticks on it up down one one and left right on the other. The kit will come with pieces that fit on the servo gear on the end of this piece you need to fasten a metal conductor with awire attached to it, you need to mount the servo to the bottom of the inside of the box ,next turn on everything and find out where the metal piece will touch when the servo is moved to the left, mark that spot and then fasten a piece of metal to the wood where the other piece will touch it when the servo is moved this will complete the circuit acting like a relay ,of corse you will need another power supply to power your igniter blasting cap ect. Do the same with the other servo. If you want your box to last then get about 20 feet of wire for each circuit put some aligator clips ont the ends fasten it to you exposive stand back with your raido move your stick left it will complet the circuit send the power down to the ignitor and presto!!! Do the same with the other channel and thats it ! If you use you Brain you can get 4 circuis hooked up with only 2 servos . UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT 1 2 3 4

Re: electronic timers
Also you can use a 555 timer chip to make a simple circuit say 3 min. or 3 hours I forgot what it was just do a search for (555 timer circuit) you should find it easy if you can solider you should not have any problem if you can find the schematic let me know.
Another way is really cool if you can get a pager for cheap! take apart the pager inside is a small electric motor this operates the vibrator , it has 2 wires going to it . cut the wires and hook them to a relay. I think it is 1.5 volts , you are going to need another power sorce to power your Ignitor Blasting cap ect. DO NOT GIVE ANYONE YOUR PAGER NUMBER because of well you know! Strap you pager to a block of C4 and stick your blasting cap into the C4 . Put it where ever you like when ever you like and when ever you feel like it dial the number and about 15-30 seconds later BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! No sign of the pager it is TOAST!

Re: electronic timers
i think some radio equipment stores and electronics stores have the 555,and the 556 which is 2 555 put together ithink it gives like a72 hour time hack its programmable still need a way to up the power source after the signal is sent auto parts actualy have some pretty good relay if you go remote stay clear of any thing with large power sources when you arm up .The military mx-22 remote firing device has a problem with premature firing because of elctro magnetic interfernce, same reason alot of comercial demolitions went to shock tube.

Re: electronic timers
the real is right aabout the electronic timer somthing like the electronc egg timer would be the best way to go especialy at 2.50 a pop the I.R.A has used them with a good succes rate easier than the 555 too
