Re: easier detonation
Whoever would be doing this would probably want some sort of remote detonation correct?
Also, what exactly might this persons level of technichal skill rate at?

Re: easier detonation
his got a friend that is pretty good with electronics (if that what you mean)
i was thinking more of a timer like, flick a switch and you got a certain amount of time before it goes off.
but tell me about the remote detonation as well.

Re: easier detonation
For the timer detonation, as far as I know you would need some sort of electric clock with an alarm, one of those small ass kitchen timers. Find the electric leads that go to the alarm and plug those suckers into the detonator, to activate it, and you would have your explosion...
The remote detonator is a fairly involved process though. You would need to grab some sort of cheap remote control car, grab the reciever from the car, and stick it into the device, then just flick some buttons on the remote to set off the bomb. However,you might want to adjust the frequency on the reciever to something unique in case some kid with his/her remote control car accidentaly sets off the receiver prematurely..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [b]INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY!!!![\b]
It's not my fault if you blow yourself or someone else up with this, I'm assuming your using it to set off fireworks or the like in your backyard, which of course is what your doing right??
exactly, I thought so...
Re: easier detonation
Number One : Never ever ever use a car remote control unless you live in some totally deserted area. These thigns operate typically from 27-30mhz which is a very busy frequency range. Anything could set it off.
Your best bet is to go and buy a cheap watch somewhere with an alarm. Make sure that the "hourly chime" is off or <boom!> you're missing an arm. Now unscrew the back. Take a look for what looks like the little speaker, it should be about 1/4-1/2" in diamter circle usually blue or some stand out color. Now there will be 2 wires running into it, usually also color coded with black and red. Assuming you have a good detonator, plug these wires into it. Now set either an alarm so you can leave it there for hours, or set the Timer function, and let it tick down. You might want to tape the watch on to the side of Mr. Boom to ensure nothing falls apart. Hopefully this helps.
Re: easier detonation
I would use a military detonator class one but these requires 12v. But otherwise use a solar ignitor and some easy detonable explosive..
Re: easier detonation
Led's aren't gonna set off a cap, heck most some blasting machines use 2v for continuity check, that's alot more than the leads from an led is gonna put out. Don't believe all you read on the net, most it's a load of crap.
Back in the day when I was filling pipes with black powder I used nichrome wire or solar igniters and about 400ft of audio wire and a car battery.
How hi tech do you wanna go?
V, I may have you figured wrong. Sorry I was vulgar on the 2nd amendment board, what's your story?
Re: easier detonation
my friend is still using the old method with gunpowder, the reason i asked the question was that with my old pipebombs were easy to see with the flame from the fuse, and alot of unfriendlys put out the flame b4 the boom stick, went boom. i just want a cheap method to do the same thing as a fuse but unnoticable.
Re: easier detonation
Just ran into something neat. 1.5v igniters from www.pyrotech.org
You could use these intsead of a fuse, that's the lowest voltage I've seen.
Re: easier detonation
The Nelson sprinkler company makes a electric sprinkler controll for hoses, if u can find somthing like that it takes 4 AA batteries(i think) take out the timer it might work?...
Re: easier detonation
if ure using blackgun powder u may try my improvised detonator.This detonator requires 1.5v. Get a good christmas light bulb(one that is small!) then pinch or crack the tip of the bulb(be careful not to break the filament inside) then fill the bulb with gunpowder or match head filling(ground to a fine powder) then seal the bulb.Now to test it connect bulb terminals to a good 9v battery or 1.5 dry cell. The filament inside glows and ignites the filling. this electronic match often explodes!!!!(once ive been rushed to the hospital for doing this...elec. match in the fucking bowl of black gun powder!!!!) u may also replace the filling with potassuim chlorate and aluminum mixture. HAVE FUN BUT DONT BLOW SOMEONE UP!!!
Re: easier detonation
No offence Assyrian but I did that when i was 10 and after 70% of them didn't work I forgot the idea.
Now I work at a Special Effects workshop, so I just buy 1.5 ignitors and squibs instead. Works better!
Peacemaker..
