Questions to ask your Priest.
Hey just wondering if anyone has any good questions to ask my priest. I was thinking of asking him if it was alright to kill a man in self devence, or killing hitler when he was a baby or something like that. Also why god makes us suffer. Please give me any questions you might want answerd. ( no stupid questions like why doesn't a twinkie twink. Alright)
Thanx alot. Marek

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
Things like how much of the bible should be taken literally, and how much of it is allegory/metaphor. And how we're supposed to take anything seriously.
Also, what does Catholicism really boil down to?

I seem to recall that Jesus did say something along those lines.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
If you are 14 or younger don't ask any questions, just stay away from him. And if he is close by and you happen to drop your keys, let them go.

lol that is really unfair but reallly funny. ask him aboout the theory of evoloution. bBasically challenge him to explain the argument for god, religion etc. using scientific, PROVEN knowladge. P.S if you have douglas adams - the salmon of doubt look around page 130 for the pice entitled " is ther an artificial god?"

Ask yourself why you feel the need to challenge your priest? he's obviously just doing something he loves, why try to ruin that for him?

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
I was just joking before. Seriously though, ask him where in the bible it says you should go to church. If he says anything about fellowship then tell him that all your family and friends are the same religion and you talk to them everyday. Then tell him you think that church is a bunch of bullshit made up so he wouldn't have to get a real job. Also, ask him what happens to sinners when they die. Then ask why the bible first says their souls will be destroyed, but then says they will go to hell, which is it?

Commandment #5 (I think) Thou shalt observe the Sabbath and keep it holy, etc... Only the core of Catholicism is based on the bible, the rest is doctrine that has piled up over the years.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
I have a great question you can ask your priest.
God creates us, then he sends us to hell because we act exactly how he created us to act, knowing we would act that way.
Oh he gives us a second chance, we would never need a second chance, if god didn't fuck up the first time.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
Ask him why god allows people like everyone else who posted to live. If the Biblical God wiped out people like these shitheads like the Bible keeps referring to, Id be the first to bow and revere him.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
God drops the ball, knowing exactly where the ball will end up, and getting pissed off that the ball landed where it did which he knew would happen if he dropped the ball the way he chose to.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
I don't think, "Thou shalt observe the Sabbath and keep it holy", means you have to go to church. What if someone keeps it holy at home?

Actually, Jesus does say that he is God, insofar as he is the extension of God into mortal form. (a facet of God we call "The Son.")

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
Catholisim is based to much around mary. Virgin mary this, hail mary that. Bleh, makes me glad that im not catholic and more glad im not christian, or i would have to deal with brain-washing shit and how i should feel bad because something made me smart, wealthy, or feel good. God forbid that I should be happy.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
Regarding the ball dropping and God sending us on our way and all that...
You're assuming the doctrine of Determinism in some sense, that our actions are governed entirely by chemical and physical factors. If you believe the Libertarianist stance, then it is impossible to predict someone. You can predict how they will likely act, but even if you analyze every atom of their body and put it in a giant calculating machine, you cannot predict them perfectly.
If that is true, then God knowing how you will act is impossible, not because he is not omniscient, but because you possess the (as some people have put it) godlike ability to make your own choices. This doesn't mean God can't know the future however. Crucial events may already be pre-determined in such a way that even with free choice, you can't back out of it rationally. Or God may intervene and force an event to happen because it is part of His divine plan.

Re: Questions to ask your Priest.
Ask him if hes ever given head or what he feels on the subject. Who knows, nowadays all you get is bad press reports on the Church. Perhaps they're writting letters for Penthouse during their spare time.

That's an excellent example of Orweilian doublethink. Either God knows everything or he doesn't. You're either omnicient or you're not, just the same as you either exist or you don't. There is no middile ground. And if God intervenes in human affairs then we don't have free will either. We can do whatever we want up to a point, and that's where God steps in.
