Default For all the Pagans

First off, there was basically just advertisement on Christmas.

We only saw Christmas tv specials, songs, commercials, etc.

It was all Christian.

Then we have Hannukah(sp?), thanks to the Jewish Rights Movement or whatever.

The newest thing to shove down our unmolded liberal throats is Kwanzaa.

Didn't they make that up? Damn minorities...anyway.

Whatever happened to the Pagan holidays!?
They are the oldest (except compared to Jewish faiths), and most of them set the stage for Christmas, easter, May Day etc, ANYWAY.

I think the Wheel of the Year should get a little recognition in the Holiday Season!

In most of the Kids Shows today, we have the main character (white, Christian) who celebrates Christmas, and his friends are Black and Jewish, and they celebrate Hannukah and Kwanzaa. (Exception: I saw a Danish thing on Arthur once .) If they want to express religious diversity, express the goddamn diversity!

Get some Wiccan kid in there telling about the Pagan holidays that started it all!

They just won't show shit like that because it's socially unexceptable. Personally, I think they should have an animated Anton Lavey's Christmas Mass Spectacular.

Christianity sees anything that is NOT for it, as against it.

I've heard of kids being reprimanded and dispelled for wearing a pentacle into school.
Or for drawing the Blair Witch symbol thingie on a piece of paper.

What exactly happens when you are publicly a Pagan?
Your reputation is ruined.
Teachers consider you a problem child.
You are treated with suspicion and inequality.
Your job options are limited.
You get an influx of 50 different denominations trying to convert you.

The results of religious tension can become even more torturous when some idiot hick finds out you're not a member of Billy Joe's Baptist Convention.
They'll tie you up, beat you up and then try to drown you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Now, who can say that members of the Christian church are down trodden and abused in this day and age?

Judaism isnt older than pagan solstice celebrations...

And no one is a pagan, thats why there are no commercials celebrating Saturnalia or Yule.

Most of the "wiccan" kids, that I went to school with, were problems.

Because there are too many "pagan" holidays in winter.

Personally I think they should all celebrate the victory of the Old Saxons over the Franks "8 days before the calends of january" "in the year 780 of our lord."

Shit, I invite those 50 denominations to try and convert me. I love the argument.

o_O I dunno though.

You're right about the Jewish thing. The Exodus was in 1657 BC, and the Soltace Celebrations go back to before 2000.

As long as they don't advertise a Pagan as a skeletaly thin teenager with upside down pentagrams, a Morticia Addams style dress going and painted black fingernails...

Which they would.

I think it would give it a little positive reinforcement. But this Free Country of ours could never strengthen anything that is *gasp* Not the Norm!

i think its cause christianity is more child friendly, 1 guy and his dad is a lot easier to grasp than the argueably infinite gods and godesses of pagan religions... plus santa is cool... now, please won't any one think of the children? let them grow up in their wonderful ignorance and be happy now, they'll get it eventually, or won't care... and the lil wiccan kid would be too much for me i dun like the forced diversity in the child friendly media... remember all those cartoon ppl from burger king? they even had a kid in a wheel chair, we can call him wiccan just for fun if u want....

You're right I guess.

I hate media where everyone has to be loving and equal.

Just saying though, now that it's not proper to publicaly call Pagans satanists (though that still happens), the media just ignores them.

Fine by me, and...just for your info, I only believe in 1 Divinity...

But if you're gonna be a cock-sucking liberal, you need to be liberal to everybody.

However, Judism goes farther back than that. aproxamitly they left egypt around the time of Rammses II. They enterd Egypt 400 years before that, and abraham was 300 before that.

April Fools day isn't the pagan (Wiccans, Druids, Celtic Traditionlists, assorted other European Non-Christians) New Year. Yule is the Pagan New Year, where it marks the beginning of the Waxing Year.

This is Dec. 20-23

The adoption of Halloween as a holiday is due to the Christian festival of All Saints' Day (All Hallow's eve), although the festivities are distinctly rooted in Paganism.

I was led to believe that Paganism and its practices have its roots in early agricultural societies.

If so, then isn't a large part of Paganism useless (in a practical sense) to someone living in the big city eating microwaved meals every night?

Pagan (Derived from pagus; someone who lives in the country.) is a derragatory term used by Christians in the cities to group the peasants who didn't 'modernise' and become Christians.

Nowadays, to refer to yourself as Pagan, you're saying that your belief system is similar or totally like that of the Old, Pre-Christian and Earth-Centered Religions of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. (Mostly Europe)

You don't have to worship all the Pagan gods to be a Pagan. In actuality, Buddhists, Hindus, and anything that isn't Christian, Jewish, or Muslim is Pagan.

I personally believe in the God 'energy' of the Universe which has a Male and Female side to it (God and Goddess). Most Wiccans believe that this is the case, and all the individual Dieties worshipped are just ways to contact the main Energy, usually the Diety matching the intent or comfort of the worshipper.

So, Paganism applies to all who share the non-JudeoChristian mindset. Hell, I've seen Athiests consider themselves Pagans because they believed in a spiritual existance, just not God itself.

I thought the beginning of the Celtic year was around Halloween?

Judism and Islam are being partially accepted by some parts of christianity. At least Jews are starting to be accepted by Catholics. It's a small step but a step nontheless.

Wait a minute, and what mainstream religious Christian denomination does not kiss Jewish ass because they are "the chosen people"?
