Starting a religion
I was wondering, there's so many religions out there and people get unfair exceptions in my school due to their religions. Like there's this muslim (or something like that) girl in my class who gets to wear this thing over her head because it's part of their religious tradition where as the rest of the class can't wear baseball caps or anything, which i think is really unfair. I was wondering what I would need to start a religion of my own and get special exceptions in school.

Re: Starting a religion
I think that if you had any debating skills you would be able to argue anything, you wouldn't necessarily need anything but that.

Re: Starting a religion
You can find a little "tutorial" on how to argue at www.nirvananet.org
There's a different between wearing a baseballcap and wearing those things. By not wearing a baseballcap you are not breaking the traditions of your religion. And by wearing an baseballcap you are making an exception against the ordinary way of dressing, she is not by wearing that thing, she would make an exception by NOT wearing it...
Okey, maybe that didn't make much sence, but we had a debate about this in school and I'm trying to translate the conclusion to English (from Swedish)

Re: Starting a religion
The thing is though, my school has a very strict uniform and if any of us came in wearing something like that and it wasn't part of our religion we'd get in trouble for it.

Re: Starting a religion
I think that by definition, a religion has to include a viewpoint concerning the existence of one or many supernatural entities governing the universe. (ie gods)
It should also be documented, because nobody is going to believe a religion that you made up and carry around in your head.
This documentation should also include the religion's clearly defined rules for living (which includes the baseball cap commandment)
