Re: religion... which one is the right one?
From your post, I'm assuming that the God you speak of is a Christian one.
Firstly, for an overall picture, turn to people who are knowledgable and preferably objective in their views on religion. (if this is possible). You will find quite a few here at totse. (You'll also find an abundance of idiots. Ignore them.)
The first thing before you dive headfirst into a religion is to learn what it is about. You shouldn't buy a television without thoroughly checking it out, as well as the alternatives. And committing yourself to a faith is something far more important than buying an electronic appliance.
And here's some personal views: It would be a good idea to look at religion on the whole from a sociological and anthropological point of view. I've found that this explains a lot of the contradictions and fucked-up things about organised religions - Religion was made by people.

Re: religion... which one is the right one?
I remember the scene from the movie city slickers where the old cowboy is asked the meaning of life and he holds up one finger. The meaning of life is whatever you make of it, so is the right religion. Just don't expect to hold others by it unless you are prepared for violence.

Re: religion... which one is the right one?
The short answer is...All of them are correct. Trouble is, not all of them are correct for everyone. Find one you like and go with it. If you don't find one, start your own for yourself. It's easy, I did it.

Don't trust the B.net test when it says you'd be a good quaker.
