i know there are alot of people on these board who have a strong hate for certain religions and im curious what the make up is. im aware that this post is reeking of ignorance and disrespect but i would like to get the idea of how people feel when it comes to hating religions.

I dislike the followers (not the religion really) of any faith that call black-white or that breeds self haters. This just about covers most (if not all) main-line religous followers - including eastern faiths. The only reason I feel that followers of this type of faith try my patience is because all of our laws and rules are based on these ideas - with a total disregard of another way of thinking.

Its ok syphon, your the man so i cant close this. I dont really hate any particular religion. I myself am agnostic, and my view on life is "fuck it, have fun". So i dont have much time to point out what i think is wrong with others' lives. Ive got my own to live.

Any religion that preaches hate, disrespect, sexism, is irrational, and is fundamentally intolerant of other religions and nonbelievers and claims that they will suffer severe consequences for not belinging to their cult.

Religions that push the hell concept just show how weak they really are. Instead of letting you choose them on their own merit o through enlightenment and reason, they would rther you believe through fear, social pressure, propaganda, and threat.

Anybody read Dante's descriptions of hell? If not read them and there you will find all the evidence necessary of the blatant fear tactics and nonsense used by the Rc's in the middle ages to control the masses. My question is if hell is eternal punishment and punishment is ment to teach people not to do something then what is the point? I mean what kind of lession would you learn from that. Its not like itll make you not do something again if its for eternity.

Exactly. The concept of hell is just endless gratuiotous suffering, which negates any disciplinary value at all.

"Hell" smacks of human construction. a benevolent deity and a perpetual torture chamber are mutually exclusive. If hell does exist, and it is endless, then god is a fucking ass and I wouldn't want to be with him anyway.

I'd also be kicking it with Ghandi and Malcom X because they didn't know any better and didn't win the religion lotto that gets them the ticket to Christian heaven. There are so many religions, who's to say any 1 of them is right if any at all and which one it might be? If the Judeo/Christian God does exist, and he would be as petty as to damn you to eternal hellfire for not instinctively knowing what the right religion is, which noone does, and we're all confused, hence there being all the religions, then he is the worst fucking thing ever.

dont forget that if its eternal then you become immune to the pain. to humans everything becomes lesser with time and your perceptions rule your pain. if you believe your not in pain then you will not be. surely a person would have to figure this out in eternity since all possible events will happen in eternity, which in itself prooves that the concept infinity cannot exist on any level when dealing with time.

as for the "burning" aspect of hell, that's pure human construct, along with the rest of course. Hell as a doctrine is largely based on the translation of the words "sheol", "Gehenna" and "Hades" as Hell, and the idea of Hell as a burning place of torture is not biblical. It is based on the opinions of some church fathers and works of fiction like Dante's Inferno. None of the words translated as Hell in the bible mean a burning place of torture.

by the way one of the more popularly accepted versions is the idea that when you die and your condemned to hell you first go to heaven for a short period of time. after that short period of time with god you are condemned to hell, a place absent of god and you will forever regret your sins because you cannot be with the most wonderfull and loving thing that ever existed.

personally i find a lot of loop holes in this scenerio but thats what is being taught alot in schools today.

It IS a literal flood in the bible, dumbass, weve been over that on about 12 different threads a number of times since July. It is not a literal survivor, with a literal ark, but it is indeed a literal flood.

Umm...actually, if you don't mind, im going to correct you. In the Bible it says that hell has a non-comsuming fire, and that the pain is just as great at the beginning than at the end. Jesus Christ gave us a free will to choose whatever we want. And I know it's confusing because there are so many different religions, but Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the light.
