A lot of people believe in a God, or maybe just a force, and I'd like to know why?

A lot of you take the approach in believing in some vague God that "just is" and I'd like to know why?

Is it because Science, thus far, hasn't suited some of the questions you ask?
Is it because you've had some sort of "unexplainable" experience?

The whole idea of a God baffles me. I'm being sincere, I really would like to know why it is exactly that you believe in God.

(Spirit, Don't be a shit head, I know how you respond to everything like it's an insult)

Personally, I think an infinite oscillating universe makes more sense that a God that is supposed to be perfect creating us, but only if you look the other way in cases of painfully evident and often terminal design flaws such as Harlequinn Fetus syndrome.

Initially sciences lack of all encompassing answers to my questions led to isolating all things "mother nature" as proof that something other than human beings created stuff, ergo there was something other than human beings creating things that I could perceive.

The sky is way up there, definitely not man made, so call it a higher power(that made the sky), if you want, irrelevant, altitude that is...except for the fact that as humans, we are all located firmly on the ground, there is even gravity to keep us there. Whose idea the gravity was???

Like most all things I bet there is probably some logical simile as to why, as a race, our physicality is limited to terra firma and with the exception of those who exceed the standard boundries of where motivation and effort can get you, what possible purpose could there be for any of us to be up and out in space anyway?

**obvious answer is "To explore", yeah, and why explore? because we wonder. now what is it we wonder? I'd hate to think we wonder what there is out there to discover and then exploit to our own ends.

The weird thing is that the only reason that we can go up in space is that exceptional people with exceptional support co-operated with one another and utilized the human races entire body of knowledge to date in the related scientific fields to come up with a way for us to get up into that sky.

The whole human race, or maybe a country w/ it's head somewhere prominent might want to claim responsibility for this feat, but really it is the accomplishment of the people who participated in it directly and if the populus(spl?) wants to think of it as mankinds insatiable desire to further himself, fine....but really a few people took the initiative to take wondering and having all the info available to a next level and do what they did,...

so what we now have are beautiful pictues of terrifically colorful galaxies being born, being sent back to us to be appraised of officially, hoooray!!!!!we are very lucky to be alive and able to witness such things....it's quite wonderful.

What a few individuals, a few hundred thousand perhaps, perhaps not...have done!!!

Something we all sort of take credit for as human beings......it's not exactly logical if you think about it. But it's a great sound bite.

Only the people with access to funds the likes of which we see in the global corporate sector, can afford to keep wondering about exploring the heavens for explorations sake itself, maybe they do.

Unfortunately it is likely that since these guys seem to include more than a few individuals with questionable values as to right and wrong, good and bad, red and black......well, gravity is no doubt a good thing.

The human race seems either to want to energetically claim the accomplishments of a few as their own, or to use the energy of the individuals of the human race, the masses, for their own profit and exploitation, either way it's definitely as bad as it is good, and the only thing that persists, is wonder.

I sometimes think that by exploiting wonder, those who would orchestrate things of a grandious nature have mistakenly embarked upon another mission to explore an as yet uncharted frontier. The scary thing is that our capacity to wonder independantly seems to be diminished and deservedly given the decidedly selfish nature of the majority of the race...

...it may seem overwhelming, but upon contemplation, it is clear that only the races inability to perceive our universe as a whole, even just the planet....well, it is unlikely that at the present time anything good can be reported as to the progress of the human race. We ought to be grounded, but even if we are not, we're not going anywhere either....unfortunate to be sure.

The sanctified duplicity and selfish nature of those in a position they endeavored to acquire or whose mentors....best and brightest? OH NO!!!!, a hem...well, one 90yr. lifespan at a time it might be pretty seemingly sweet, but most certainly no great reserve of positive spiritual or ......cerebral energy is being accumulated, almost the opposite it seems sometimes...how funny there is a cosmic war of the disposition of energy going on and at the same time there is a global war over the disposition of energy going on....

What a bunch of fucks! To keep our current state of impedimented awareness at the status quo, those with the means to affect the massess are sustaining it to what end? Long sighted w/ regard to availablity of oil?
The buck stops where the guys who'd rather not wonder about alternate forms of energy hang out! AAAAAAACCCK! screwed, (CARTMAN)"We're screwed you guys"........So, presently the cutting edge of the human race is draining the wonder and initiative to wonder out of the massess to support itself in it's quest to "look out" for the future?

Next stop Taco Bell.....

bottom line, a lot of people care about others, but not alot of people care well about others and so it is a matter of making ends meet spiritually, cerebrally overall.....there ain't much getting banked guys....

I don't think that the way things are going that the human race as a whole is going to embody enough positive spiritual and cerebral energy to effect any substantive change from the reality we now know as "life on earth"

I think that such a preponderance of that energy would be a neccessary catalyst, a party in part to aforementioned heightened awareness of all there is to perceive, by the majority of those there are to perceive it, and if that energy existed in that state, then is could cause our dna to mutate in such a way as to allow everybody to have heightened levels of awareness.

If dna defines everything specifics, then what, pray tell influences dna? I think it must be energy in various levels of purity and disposition, that could have that ability.

Probably with say, oh...the ability to perceive a third more than what we consider normal, many things that are now matters of speculation and disagreement and ignorance could be learned by new generations as givens. but I digress...

Having come to an understandable stopping spot in my quest for answers, I resigned myself to the official mindset of "I'd sure like to believe in something like God, but unless I lie to myself, I know I really don't, therefore my highest level of understanding is that:

~Honesty to oneself is as close to that God as one can get,

The rest of it is just way too overwhelming to even comprehend and after all, if I could comprehend it, then I'd like to think that after all this wondering and thinking and searching for some knowledge, as yet unascertained in any recorded manner this race of ours has come up with, then I would comprehend it."

So to know that no one knows for sure satisfied me as much as was to be.

What does that say about the state of my soul? I don't know, but in retrospect it seems pretty shallow to be satisfied that as long as nobody else knows what I don't know, it is no longer a viable thing to continue to wonder about. Without the proof that I so wanted, I was at a stopping spot.

Then a couple of years later I did have some very strange experiences along the lines of the kind of stuff you see on that "It's a Miracle" show, if you see that show, that is.

Anyway the whole subject, to date, in my mind, has proof, verifyable(spl) to me, by me and really only for me, that whatever power that is that can create nature, orchestrate biology and elude the most talented and informed thinkers of the human race, does exist.

As to the form? Well, the way the things that happened to me were so personal and then intertwined with other people and events from the past, present and future all at once, that if "God" has time to do such detail work....naw, I can't really believe that,..if god were a singular sort of entity, that he would, despite all the good intentions in the world, , have the time to impress his existence upon individuals one at a time or more likely in that flawed train of thought, whilst multi-tasking.

Nope, I think that it is an elevated state of perception of all that we are already aware of, (maybe the one where you are aware that nobody is ultimately aware and become very aware of that fact?),or whatever slightly more widely accepted, minutely, but thoroughly, extended level of perceptions based on the human experience, were it the norm, in terms of levels of perception, in groups of people or races of creatures, that, extra measure of inherent, unquestioned perception would come to be refered to as what "those homo-sapiens" used to call God.

It would be a given and then whatever there was to do with the mind at that point would be the next order of existence.

I think we are a race of ground rods or something....you know, the green wire..... providing in our own peculilar way, the actual material, matter, for conducting positive and negative energy in such a way as to regulate it at a level where the loads are balanced.

There is the thing of dark and light, day and night...or more intangibly, though none the less compelling, good and evil....right and wrong....whatever the case, it seems obvious that likelyhood is that mankinds concerns about the dieties are tantamount to the gyrations of atoms before they split or whatever those things are that they showed in 7th grade science, breaking apart, floating around looking for an opposite to connect to, protons and neutrons? whatever they were, anyway why a cell divides?

??.. because in my little theory here, the one about us being on the ground for a reason(all hail gravity it will save us from ourselves or something like that)

...as one cell, it cannot understand or perceive it's embodiment of both positive and negative components and so it divides, not realizing(like us) that no matter where it goes there it is, still embodying the same fairly like amounts of positive and negative and then, unable to formulate any other course of action, dividing again.

This ought to keep things in check for the forseeable future. If there is anything else to do as far as as a prime directive for existence is concerned, I think the best bet on finding out about it is to do whatever work there is to do to ones individual soul, during ones individual life time, whatever human activities can be described as most likely to produce a higher grade of purely positive energy for use by whatever manufacturing type energy oriented entities there may be running around in plain sight of the minds eye, in the same everything that we, here, have our little, limited perception of at this time.

Because of the weird and fantastic things that happened for my own eyes to see and brain to ponder, I believe that the above mentioned entity might best be described as laying latent to one degree or another in each human being and that only by increasing our ability to perceive and to perceive in conjunction with one another, which I have seen happening, hence the "It's a Miracle" stuff, can the human race, as it now stands in it's entirety, expect to evolve much further than it has already.

Not that being a cosmic green wire is bad......the question is not what are the appliances being run, but what is running them, AND , once the chores are taken care of what is there to do?

If I say , "Relevance"
and you say, "You have an elephant?"
and I say, "No,..no elephant",
then, looking toward the sky, you say,
"What about up there?"
and I say, "No, no bears either"
Then you think we are not communicating well,
well we are, as well as can be expected,
I expect that we are polarity bearers,
some baring themselves writhing around poles on stage, getting tips in the twats,
or not..
..the polar bears knew what they were doing.....next time fish start coming out of the water up onto land, nope, ain't gonna let that happen, it's the before, during and after thing, see....the instinctual nature of the polar bear is to reach through the ice and snow and catch the fish in the water, knowing that fish that got out of the water evolved into who knows what, but, in the future of his species, some are kept, by humans, incages.....Polar Bears.
They are not bi-polar, they come in white,
pure white, is that a coincidence? no.
Purity = Cleanliness?
So then cleanliness is next to Godliness?

Diluted? I'm talking to you. What does pole position mean?
Just what exactly are kid gloves &

Most importantly, in a perfect world, what's for dinner?
Write back, or next time it's hate mail!

Yes, and it's only a possibility.

communion with nature.

Don't worry, those that have it sussed aren't really contemplating it very seriously.

The opinion of one ignorant 17yo...

Ever since people evolved to the point of actually thinking about what's goin on, they've wondered what's behind the unexplainable forces in the world. This awe of forces outside their control (ie, the sun, the weather, love, fertility) was personified and became deities...
This same awe was translated into myths, etc. concerning the above deities.

I see this as a sort of primitive 'science' in that they they attempted to explain their observations with a form of logic based on their beliefs. Keep in mind that their belief in the gods would have served the same purpose in understanding the world as our 'belief' in subatomic physics...

I'm not sure what'd happened, but I suppose religion has become more elaborate as societies and people have become more complex, taking their existing beliefs to even further logical extremes. And I'm sure codes of ethics and things fit in there somehow as well...

What I see is that science has gradually become a lot less willing to make assumptions (ie, that gods exist) and has tried to explain the observed in terms of what is indeed actually observed, and some whacked-out theory about cause and effect is not accepted until it can be confirmed by further evidence.
So a lot of what religion could expain with assumptions could now be explained through more or less completely logical scientific principles... and so science has replaced religion as our guide to the universe.

Back to the parallel between physics and mythology, maybe our ultimate realisation of God will be what makes the universe tick...

Maybe science will never answer all our questions... and so maybe we'll always need gods
