Can white people be rastafarians? The religion, and way of life preaches acceptance, and equality. But every place i look about rastafari, they say whites cant be rastafarian. Anyone know?

I listen to bob alot, although that fits into another part of my lifestyle, I wasnt considering becoming a rastafarian, i was just wandering if anybody here knew more about it than me heh. Thier god was a living man, Haile Selassie. He denied being a god and said he wanted nothing to do with them. Most of the informational sites i visit about this say rastafarians follow the christian bible, anyone know of any "rastafarian" bibles? I need to get my hands on a rastafarian bible.

Rastafarians believe White people were created by and for evil to harm and ruin Gods chosen black race. If you want to believe that, I suppose you could be a Rastafarian. I dont know how seriously theyd take you though.

There was so much intra-faith marriage that many Germans had a Jewish ancestor. What really messed up the argument was how to deal with ancestors who had converted to Christianity. Now the thorny theological problem became, Is Judaism a religion or a race? And yes, Adolph faced this problem in his personal life. Had not a certain Herr Heidler (later changed to Hitler) not confessed on his deathbed that he had impregnated a certain Fraulein Schikelgruber a number of years before, I doubt that Herr Hitler would have had any impression on world history. I can't imagine a crowd of people holding up their arms and shouting, "Hiel Schikelgruber".

Interestingly enough, this problem of definition of race is currently faced by the Honerable Louis Farrakan and company. Lou can scream all day long that his female ancestor was raped by a white man, but white blood still surges through his "black" body. Go ahead and hate whitey Lou, but you only hate yourself as well.

My point? Only this...the answer to your question is NO. Unfortunately, for some Rastafarians, their answer is also no. Such are the problems that any group which bases itself on race must face.

My family's lived in Kingston for many years, and I've come to know many Rastafarians, as roots as they go. I've studied their religion in depth. They believe that tradition culture - Zion, is the path one must take to find their identity, and that the Industrial World - Babylon, is evil and steals peoples' identeties and cultures. They also believe in the divinity of Heili Selasi, and a few other oddball rules depending on what Rasta you talk to.

Whites can be Rastafarians. I've met white Rastafarians, in Jamaica, worshipping hand in hand with black Rastafarians. The people Spirit is reffering to are probably Black Jews, a twisted form of the traditional African religion in which white people are descendents of Satan and are destined to a life of slavery. They are not by any means Rastas.

In NZ we have the Rasta who is a member of the Green party. He has had the most police raids on his house in NZ. He stats that drugs should be decriminalised only cause he says its his religion to smoke it once a month. I think they're just stoners trying to justify they're actions.
