Is our lives chosen for us or not
I don`t belive in destiny (hope i spelled it right) our lives can`t be detirmed to every littel detail. and it must, if not every littel detail is planned, people is cabable of breaking out of it, by doing somthing like a spontan dash to a big skinhead.(that`s gonna change you)
it would all be to complex
give me some replyes

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
Well this is one topic i try never to think about since its impossible to find out if destiny exists or not

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
My opinion is that everything is going to follow a path already set in motion, that nothing is truly random, and that it is impossible to know or predict the outcome because of the uncertainty principle. Everything comes down to the energy everything contains, and you can calculate how it would be released, and how it would be affected by it's surroundings, and how it would affest it's surroundings, etc. At least that's what i think.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
I have posted about this before. I think our fate/destiny is like a big canvas in which we have a thread to weave into it. We get to choose were we place the thread but the thread can only be placed ontop of where other threads have already gone. So in a way we can choose our actions, based off of the reality off our situation. We are limited to the confinment of our situation, but not our choices within.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
it is impossiple that we should be limited in any way. if desteny should exist every singel breath should be controlled by the big somthing, and that is to big, even for the big somthing. if not that any irrational act could break the barriers were barriers are they will be broken.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
For example:
Past in the past were limited in respects that they couldn't fly on plane (because they didn't exist). Their situation limited them to NOT be on planes. Which is a restriction these people had to live with.
I don't believe their is some sort of master plan.... but what you can do is based on the shoulders of our ancestors.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
it depends on whether or not you consider time to exist physically.
the theory of relativity provides for time travel both in the past and the future, which would imply a destiny
the time-less theory states that the wave function will manifest only those structures that are most probable, which puts a limit on what you are capable of doing at any given moment which directly affects the next.
i look at like this, destiny may very well exist.
the future may exist at this moment as well.
this does not take away my free will, because it is the choice i would've made anyway.
if the future does exist as relativity suggests,
then changing my mind doesn't spawn a new future,
the future existing suggests that i was going to change my mind, it doesn't mean that i didn't full control of that situation.
there was a study done, i have the information at work, i'll post it tomorrow.
can't remember it exactly right now, but it goes somewhat like spontaneous decisions are not all that spontaneous, they manifest in the subconcsious prior to our actually doing the act.
beany is the real correct one here, it is impossible to determine if it does exist, although it's existence seems to be implied theoretically,
that doesn't mean you are not in control of your actions,
relativity suggest you made your life choices at the instant of the big bang and continue to remake them over and over again.
time-less theory suggests the decision you make is the one that has the highest probability of occuring.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
desteny, no. power to achive yes. also there's something called a probabilety. like when u dont study ur bound to fail. you cant say it was your desteny to fail.

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
here it is from the book the end of time by theoretical physicist julian barbour
"Anyone committed to science has difficulty with free will. In The Selfish Gene, Dawkins asks, 'What on earth do you think you are if not a robot, albeit a very complicated one?' From a personal introspection, i do not believe that my conscious self exercises free will. Certainly i ponder difficult decisions at length, but the decision itself invariably comes into consciousness from a different, unconscious realm. Brain research confirms that what we think are spontaneous decisions, acts of free will, are prepared in the unconscious mind before we become aware of them."

Re: Is our lives chosen for us or not
Ok, choose heads or tails now, before you continue reading.
done? ok continue,,,
Basicaly, if you belive that you can travel in time, you must belive in predestination. Think about this, the heads or tails you just chose, assuming you chose heads, you then, at that time will have always chosen heads, if i went bac in time and watched you make that decision, it would be heads. Every decision has one outcome. if you travel in the future, you will see those outcomes before 'they happen'. Since all outcomes are one rather than the other, destiny must exist.

Do you mean the fabric of space-time? Are the present and future linked - whereby an action today causes a simultaneous effect in the future? If thats true, then we are also changing the past at the same time. And I hesitate to walk this old cow out of the barn, but this would have to be tested with the time-traveller that went back in time to kill his mother. I say he continues to exist because he has not altered his past. He has altered his present. We may have free will but what if it is only two-dimensional free will because we are caught in the web of time? What if time is a fence, put up by our more affluent inter-dimensional neighbors? Revolution I say!
