jesus is god?
when did jesus say he was god? i have never seen jesus make claim to being god. he said he was the son of god but he also reffered to us as his brothers and sisters. does that mean im a demi-god or was that just figurative language? seems like more of the church taking things out of context by saying jesus is part of the triune god.

Re: jesus is god?
jesus said we are all sons and daughters of god,
jesus never really wanted the title, it was given to him, not so sure by god either.

Re: jesus is god?
theres sciptures in Tebit which tell of great sage named Issa (Tebiten for Jesus) who came from Isreal at the age of 14 and studied at verious monastries in India, Tibet and Ladakh - then left after 15 year to free his people - they are farily detailed, telling of events in his youth, verious mirricles, the crucifiction, (although not the resurection) and a number of other things that have been reported by different sorces but to the piont, Jesus said he was the alpha/omega, which is senominous with the eastern view of God.

Re: jesus is god?
As far as i know Jesus was someone who god used to speak through. Jesus was just an ordinary guy but had amazing wisdom and understanding of life which is why he could help so many. Jesus's teachings were to help us succeed well as a species but religeons have warped a lot of info and now he seems more like a fairytale character. Apparently other people such as ghandi, buddha etc were also used as guides from god. Also i have come to believe that our souls are a part of god and when we die we rejoin the whole of him (which is heavan)

Re: jesus is god?
In Christianity there is the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Hindus have Bhrama, Vishnu and Shiva. Which all serve the same purpose. The same with Buddhism, which for me is the best explanation;
Dharmakaya - The absolute nature, a dimension of empty, unconditioned truth, into concepts of no kind can enter. The Sambhogakaya - The intrinsic radiance of energy and light, the dimension of complete enjoyment, of full richness, beyond all dualistic limitations, beyond time and space. Nirmanakaya - The Sphere of ceaseless crystallization into form. Above from "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche. (form slightly altered)
"The objects around us that we think of as solid are really mostly empty space with a minuscule atom occupying a comparatively immense area like a speck of dust on a football field."
Science has shown us that things a basically empty space, occupied by atoms - there most basic for being light, atoms when crystallized in a specific pattern create the objects we perceive.
Pretty interesting coincidence says I. If my science is wrong please correct. My personal opinion id that Jesus is the maifestaion of Sambhogakaya (uncoditional/devine love) on earth. ---------------------- "All matter is merrily energy condensed into a slow vibration, we're are all of one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death life is only a dream and we are the imagination of our selves." Re: jesus is god?
I would say the net is the best place, find a good engine and go from there, but at the moment I've been interested in Paramahansa Yogananda and Kryia Yoga, "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche I thought was fantastic, "The Zealator" by Mark Hedsel (I think I spelt right) was good, anything about Saints from all religions- Perticualy Eastern ones, they usually know there stuff - Milarepa is a personal favorite (bio good), Shamanism from Central and South America can be interesting, anything-thing Occult, or studies of psi-phenomonon (Rhine is one guy) W.S.Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, any of the Beats can open doors - I'm not relay one for names, memories not so great. Any for me? PS Your the first person I've meet who knows Bill Hicks is, ever, bunch a savages round here. Also William Blake is, well Blake.

Re: jesus is god?
from the roman catholic point of view jesus is part of the triune god. they say that he is man and god at the same time. they also claim that god is three persons at the same time. the father, son, and holy spirit. my translation is that its bullshit to confuse gullable children and weak minded individuals who want acceptance at all costs. i was just curious whether or not jesus ever caimed to be god in the bible or any other historical writings from the time.

I thought there is a verse in the bible that says "God and I are one" also you are right about him saying he is the son of God. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[1] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. yah.. But even if Jesus said "God and I are one" which i cant confirm because I cant find the verse it doesnt mean he is God. He is still a seperate entity. Like I am My Fathers bloodline. We share the same blood as God and Jesus shared the same holy spirit. Thats why I dont follow the catholic scriptures which make claim that Mary was the mother of God.

Re: jesus is god?
yes i agree. the i am one line is a bit vague. it may be a transcendental type idea where he is claiming all things are related.

Re: jesus is god?
Hey evilove, do we know each other? Only yesterday did one of my best friends introduced me to Bill Hicks for the first time. She was raving about him and saying I had to see the video. Apparently her husband had a full on spiritual experience when he watched the video. She's into all the same shit as you and she lives in Victoria.
Coincidence?

Re: jesus is god?
the trinity pattern occurs in the human psyche from some angles too,
Father(father), Mother(H. Spirit), Child(Son)
paranoia(father),blissful ego loss(HS), insecurity/vunerability(son),
role model/your potential(father),wisdom (HS), recklessness of youth(son)
shit, you can basically take ANYTHING, stare hard at it enough till you see a pattern, then come up with a religious explination for it, wether its valid or not. wether there is any basis behind it depends upon the person, and the way they perceive what their examining, once you understand the way they perceive the outside world, then and only then can you alter their perspective on it.
most of you probably either understand that last point already, or have no idea what im saying. Ahh well, such is life.

Re: jesus is god?
Don't you think it's amazing that these guys have known things for thousands of years that western science has only discovered and theorized about in the last 200?
