No God
I got a quote the other day
'Gods are fragile things, they can be kiled by a whiff of science or a dose of common sense' i believe that this is true if u look at things logically like me. Take moses for example, how does that whole parting of the seas thing work, if u are a scientist what possible explanation is there that this is possible.
Your thoughts please

Re: No God
Another thought that came into my head is the reason why there are gods. There are gods because millenia ago when religion didnt exist, people saw their lives as meaningless, having no purpose. So they need somthing to stop their society from entering total chaos, so they created god, to give themselves some reason to continue living their lives thinking that if they do somthing good they will get a greater reward, when tehy were just building a barrier between themselves and the truth.

Re: No God
Now how was the Universe created? The big bang created it
Now who created the big bang?
Everything in our life is relative because of time. Everything eventually dissapears. But for a thing to be relative, it has to be compare to something. It has to be compared to an absolut, somthing thats immortal. That's why God exist, because if he didn't exist then we don't either.

Re: No God
saw this on the history channel.
the red sea was actually a misinterpration.
it was the reed sea. very shallow and on the northern coast of egypt.
ever sea the water before a wave comes in; when it retreats from the beach.
fault lines run through the mediteranean; it is extremely possible a minor earthquake resulted creating an extremely large if not tidal wave.
the hebrews crossed while the water was receeding; the egyptians crossed while the wave came tumbling down.
now this an extreme coincidence. but stranger things have happened and primitive people could only attribute it to an act of their god.
with no vehicles chances are they might have camped their for a few days if not a week or more building boats the the earth shakes and a little while later the egyptians appear on the horizon; then the waters withdraw and they run across.
quite possibly some hebrews were killed; and quite possibly not all the egyptians were killed.
but that doesn't make good storytelling when you're trying to build a monotheistic society.
it is well documented that hebrews were egyptian slaves.
so why is it not documented what happened to the hebrew slaves in egypt.
the pharaohs were gods incarnate; if you led a people who believed you to be a god and absolute would you write down your failures so they lose faith not only in you but in your system as well.
or would you document that through wisdom granted by divinity you allowed these people their freedom.

Re: No God
but here's another quote for you one i just thought of.
gods ARE fragile things whose existance is determined SOLELY on belief and not proof.
you either believe he exists.
or you believe he doesn't exist.
either way it's just a belief; and each is based on as much faith as the other.

Re: No God
its called a conscionce, listen to it,because you will be judged by it. your conscionce knows, the more it will tell you whats wrong. if you believe in something, your conscionce will tell you its right and then you must have FAITH that is right and no one can touch you or take that away from you,its yours, fuck evryone else that dares mess with your human right to believe which is much deeper than the flesh.

Re: No God
On the matter of God... Does it matter if there is one?
If so, keep it to yourself.
If not, that goes double for you.
Spirituality should be kept internal.

I'm hardly the oldest person posting here...
And might I say that it's a pathetic show when someone uses a fundamental ailment of some people to insult others?
"Gay." You sure sound like a Korn fan...
