Hey i got suspended from a PUPLIC school because of a pentagram on something. can they legally do this?

i live in the uk but over here unless you showed it to people that take ofence to it - or physicaly harm some one they cant kick u out - but then again it might be diferent over there

A lot of schools have rules against "violent imagery". If the pentagram in question was dripping blood or something, I could see it (wouldn't agree with it, but I could see it happening). If it was nothing more than a circle with a star in it, no messages about killing your family or anything, then no, I don't believe they can legally do anything. The question is, can you fight it (if you even want to)? I hope your parents are on your side if you try.. not that you absolutely need them to be, but it would make things easier. It would give you some cred, instead of looking like an unhappy kid crying "unfair".

Bring it to the supreme court. Ruin his life. Sue him for all he has.

There are two organizations you can contact for help: the ACLU or People for the American Way. What happened to you is bullshit. It might just take a call from one of these organizations to get your suspension nullified.

here in my town there are to groups of kids one third is potheads and shit and almost the rest is preps and a small amount is loners and kids that don't have more than 1 or 2 friends.

well the teachers treated the potheads (me and my friends) unfairly up at the local high school. one day my friend was suspended for a week for kicking a garbage can over, and about a month later a prep lit the very same garbage can on fire and the prep only got 3 days suspension both by the same teacher.

well the teacher was sued by my friends parents for unfair treatment and when that happened me and most my friends stepped up and told how all but 2 teachers and the principal on staff were bastards that liked to treat us unfair.

2 teachers were fired, and many suspended without pay.

but we stood up and now well were still treated shitty, and we didn't really get anything, but at least we got the 2 teachers we hated the most fired.

Fuck, im not a satanist, but im not a christian either. i don't believe in religion. I think people who need to look to a higher power for explanations to their problems are weak minded. What the FUCK! i have friends that are satanists they aren't nesscessarily violent. The entire world is based on stereotypes and there isn't much we can do about it and thats what pisses me off. I mean we'll always have the people that just snap (I actually live within walking distance of the school where the guy came in with a machette and started hacking people if you heard about that in teh news) but most of it is due to corruptness. It didn't hurt anybody (the pentagram) people get offended to easily. What the fuck is offended? Im not offended by anything. If i woulda came up to him and punched him in the mouth that would be a different story. But all he had to do was look away from the computer or move to a different chair something like that. my friends brother is one of those fuckin geniuses and he gets like 90's and shit on all his classes but because he does drugs and shit and skips a lot the teachers are always treating him shitty trying to get him to dropp out.

I think homework is bullshit too. I get A's on all my tests, well, 90% of em, and I just am too bored to fuck with the homework. What should be the difference, I retain what I learn, I mean, I must, to get the tests passed. I think we should listen to them lecture, and take notes if we want to, then take the tests, and decide our fates. I mean, they are the major test of knowledge right? not the homework!

that's what's cool about university. they don't make you take notes or do homework. it's up to you, if you wanna do it or not or if you even want to show up for class. but here's a piece of advice, if you're paying that much money, go to class at least a couple times a week, cuz the school don't care if you fail out for that reason, but your parents sure will.

hell...actually, I looked at many religions and what they are like...they make tons of fucking sense to the phsyce but none to logic. Take it this way, I will use christianity for an example.

people piss me off. i hate when people say god created satan. ok, first of all, there is no god. wasnt it freud or someone that said if the human race hadnt had religion they would create something called religion so they could rely on an invisible force of support? god did not create satan, christians created the word satan, to represent the carnal nature of humans. for example, the seven deadly sins. greed: how can anyone not feel greed? so oops, you want to have more money, i guess you are going to hell. sloth: i guess the fact that someone wants to rest once in a while is a sin as well. sux for u! etc... so my point is, satan represents everything that humans label as "bad," when in reality there is nothing that is realy good or bad, just someones impression on things. for example, someone may think that eating meat is bad, but hell, i love cheeseburgers. so yeah, there's my opinion on the whole thing. oh, and kid, school sucks ass no matter what you do, so either shoot everyone, drop out, or put up with it, because ive tried fighting the system, and no matter what the hell i do, the administration lies and cheats its way to victory.

Ah, the constitution is abridged once again. I only have a few explanations for this hypocrisy:

No. 1: Most people do not realize that the pentagram is not neccessarily a symbol of Satan. It's actually a symbol of power - the five pointed star in a circle. The pentagram may be placed right side up and upside down to channel different sorts of energy in many pagan beliefs and was soon associated with Satan through the Roman Catholic Church so they'd have another reason to call the pagans Devil worshipers.

No. 2: Since most people don't realize this, most of your peers don't know it either and wearing a pentagram (while fine by the constitution) is like yelling fire in the movie theatre. You just can't do it because it's infringing on the "peace".

Now, the hypocritical part is that people walk around school wearing stars of David and crosses and crucifixes left and right and no one has a problem with that. That's because having a dead guy around your neck is for some reason more acceptable that a pentagram, because people are taught to fear the pentagram because it is supposably the symbol of Satan. Well, this could go on forever. And you could sue the school board for that, but you'd probably get nowhere. My guess is that you were knew what you were doing and you did it anyways to be a smart-ass. Again, no problem there. But, you should've known what you were getting into when you wore it to school.

Bottom line: People are stupid.
