Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Default Critical Review

Read this and tell the board what may be the weak points in this article.

IS there something in it that didn't make sense? Post your opinion and explain why you think that way. Something in the article that is unrealistic? Post your opinion and explain your logic to the board.

The unregulated medical idea is a bad thing. What are you going to do about quacks and patient abuse if their is no law preventing such things?

Hmmm it's America meets Utopia

quote:
3.) A person who has been accused of a crime shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial with a jury of his peers. He shall have the right to know of his rights, although it is also his responsibility. The convicted criminal shall have no excessive penalties, fines, prison/jail time or otherwise unfair consequences forced upon him. No person shall be tried for the same crime more than once.
What do you mean by "excessive" penalties. This is very subjective and vague. The double jeopardy law is somewhat archaic when you consider the methods modern police forces have at their disposal to provide strong evidence against someone who has already been acquitted.

Number 5 is vague: it states that a citizen has "the right to pursue a life of health, wealth and overall happiness, with respect to the law of the land" then states "The government...may not make any law that infringes upon...this". Since theft, for example, falls into the category "pursuit of wealth", it could be argued that the government has no right to outlaw it.

Number 6 makes no mention of other narcotics. Incidentally, since medical treatments do not have to be govt approved, an under 16 year old could be sold alcohol/tobacco without parental approval as a "treatment".

"unless the volunteer militarial forces have been all but eliminated" vague

"Any and all powers given not given to the federal government are therefore automatically and rightcheusly " righteously?

quote:
The national justice system may deem a law illright
"illright" is not a word. Consider replacing it with the phrase "unconstitional, unenforceable obsolete or otherwise in need of repeal"

quote:
The presidential figure shall choose federal judges, who are to be put in place until they resign, or until they have died
What if they are unpopular, or just very bad at their job. Surely there should be some mechanism for their removal.

quote:
The last stated part will consist of the national income tax, that will consist of 15% of an individual's salary. The sales tax shall be set at five percent, of which three parts will go to the national government, and one part for the regional government, one part for the local (city) government.
Permanently fixing fiscal policy could lead to disaster - governments shold have the power to raise taxes to collect necessary income or lower them to stimulate economic growth. 15% is a low taxation rate - what expenses is it intended to cover? What about a progressive tax rate whereby people earning over certain level pay a higher percentage of their earning as tax and people below a certain level pay no tax at all?

The economic and military systems for your nation seem to be rather utopian

Most importantly, what are your social policies? Does the government provide any education, healthcare or welfare? If so, how are they financed by a 15% income tax?
