| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

how u feel about arrest?
How DO you feel about beeing handcuffed, brought to a police station and put in a cell, Then having to go in front of 12+ 1 ppl who will decide how much longer u will remain in a cell?
would u give anyone permission to kill you or surround u by 4 walls with a hole in the one of them for the next 30 years?
does it take u that long to reconise your mistake?

King,
I don't get the point you are driving at. Help me out, or I'll have to move this to Conspiracy or Bad Ideas.

Re: how u feel about arrest?
By committing a crime against other members of society, you forfeit your right to decide your own fate, and are thus entrusted to a judge and a jury of your peers.
Of course, this assumes the laws of the land are just and legitimate - an altogether stickier proposition.

Obviously you started it. The state has the right to do what it wishes to do to you (not that you pervert).

Depending on which country your action have been commited in. In some countries you get imprisonment for life and others you get one shinny bullet in the head.

Say what you will of dictatorships, but it must be admitted that they often have a flair for irony.

Baretta had a saying, "Do the crime and you do the time" Now Kingenrage, ask yourself if a person murdered all your loved ones, raped and stabbed your wife to death, slashed the throats of your children, and was arrested, WOuld you feel like he should have some of your sympathy?

Then id prefer torturing him until his end, instead of knowing that he ends up in prison with his friends and that he will cost the state a minimum of 23000$ per year

Re: how u feel about arrest?
what is a crime? A law that u break? When its a law imposed by the state for rigths of others it should be allrigth, but if its a law with protects the rigths of the state they should not take away your freedom ( unless it actualy hurt citizens of that state { like killing sprees )) wich comes back to hurting ppl
Like would u accept a 30 day prison term cuz u didnt pay ur parking bills?

I don't own the place, they can do whatever the hell they want. Plus, it provides a paycheck to those who write tickets for parking violations. If you've ever been in a hurry for an appointment and was forced to be late because some asshole double parked, or parked his SUV in a compact parking space, you'd want for that as well.

Re: how u feel about arrest?
Imprisoning people for doing drugs in my opinion is a violation of civil liberties. Who has the right to tell me what I can and cannot put in my own body? Ridiculous

The problem comes when you don't have money for those drugs and rob someone for it, or kill someone under the influence of drugs.

Re: how u feel about arrest?
in which case you imprison the people for committing the crime, rather than trying to predict the likelihood of comitting a crime on lifestyle choices. Profiling doesn't work. Statistically you're more likely to commit a crime when you're under the influence of drugs. Statistically you're also more likely to commit crime under the influence of alcohol, or if you happen to be poor, or black, or male.

Re: how u feel about arrest?
Drugs should be illegal. why? because 70% of crime is drug related. why? Because addicts steal why? Because drugs are incredibly expensive. why? because they are illegal.
-Ah look a circular argument.

Re: how u feel about arrest?

A quick history lesson for the Dr. since he is not a US type: 100 years ago today, drugs were legal and taxed in the US of A. Congress made drugs illegal and eliminated a source of revenue (I know that is difficult to believe, but it's true). Why? Because of the number of addicts in this country. These people were addicted, not because of recreational use (although like anything, there were always some) but because they were trying to relieve pain. Heroin and Morphine are brand names of products from the Bayer Chemical Co. (Germany) which were current at the same time as another non-addictive pain medication (the idea came from the Cherokee- a Native American Nation) that Bayer produced called ... Aspirin. So much for the 'circular' argument. Making drugs legal will only exacerbate an already monumental problem ... addiction. Nox
