| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

anarchy curiosity
I was wondering what your viewpoints were on anarchy. Do you think it would work?
I personally feel it would it would have some problems i first i believe but overall i think it could work out because most people you talk to arent people who want to go out and kill everyone in the world. I dont know if i have the right feeling of anarchy or if it would work, but from what i have read and looked at i think it would be a pretty decent way of living.
What do you think?

Re: anarchy curiosity
It depends what you mean by anarchy. And spirit is right, in a fragile system it only takes a small ammount of people to wreck everything.

Re: anarchy curiosity
Anarchy as in lack of any and all government control and true "free" society would only even have a chance of working if everyone in the world simotaniously(I know, I know, spelled it wrong) decided to become anarchist. Its not really all that workable.

Re: anarchy curiosity
Even if everyone did decide to become Anarchist, you would still have situations where people decided to voluntarily contract together so as to provide services and benefits. Most likely one would see the rise of city states all of which possess their own laws and rules. The key here being that in a situation of Anarchy, one can voluntarily enter or leave the city state where as now, one becomes a citizen as soon as they are born.

Re: anarchy curiosity
Even if the people were perfect, it would be less productive and society would accomplish nothing.
