| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

More Sore-Looserman
The Sore-Looserman crowd has yet another target to blame for the 5 November fiasco...The Green Party. Yes, Ralph Nader took enough Democratic votes to ensure Gore's loss in 2000...but wait...there was a carry-over to 2002. But this same crew found it just fine that Ross Perot ensured Billy's 43% "Mandate".
The lack of leadership and ideas are why the Demo's took a pounding. Merely being a political party who is against everything, they need to have an alternative 'solution'. They spent (used up) their time in control of the Senate hiding behind a little enforced (until Tommy took over) 60% rule.
Dicky G., you know, the has been from the House, got replaced by that San Francisco 'conservative', Nancy P. who is claiming to take the Demo's back to the 'center'. For those who believe that, I have a bridge ...
Quit with the tears. Lead, follow, or get out of the way (again). Make good (with ideas, not retoric) not excuses.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
You're completely right about the Democrats. I echo your sentiments fully.
Unfortunately, Republicans share the exact same characteristics. There's nothing wrong with critisizing the democrats for being two faced, dishonest, fake, imposing double standards, and being frontrunners, but you have no right to say (with any credibility at least) that the Republicans are any better. You seem to think they're an upstanding, honest, and moral party with strong leadership and healthy Americans ideals.
The Republicans are just as full of shit as the Democrats, and if you don't see this, all it shows is that the Republics are better at covering it up.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
Both the democrats and the republicans are a huge bunch of self-serving ass-clowns who care little about anything else besides padding their own pockets. There is a reason why this country sees an ubsurdly low voter turnout: Neither party is really a good choice. Both parties don't want other parties besides the 2 having anything to do with politics. That is why only their parties get federal campaign money and why rules of debates state that only the democrat and republican candidates debate. The reason that the democrats are so pissed about nader is that normally, 3rd parties are nothing but flies, and last election, nader showed that third parties could get somewhere if they tried really really hard. This scares both parties, because next time it will be the republicans who's seats are in jeopardy. The worst part of the two party system in this country is that both parties have made it plainly clear that they don't give a damn about the rights of the people. They continue ad nauseum to attempt to censor "indecent" and "subversive" speech. There are many in our government who would like nothing more than to burst into my door and beat the shit out of me for talking like this. The government must be stopped. Vote libertarian party

Re: More Sore-Looserman
I think Nox's main argument is that at least the Republicans have ideas they are running on. Democrats don't even have that and their only resort was obstruction and trying to force issues that no one really cared about. I think we can all admit that security is a very important issue these days and that one of the reasons that the Democrats failed so miserably is the fact that Republicans are much stronger on the war on terror. The Democrats resorted to rhetoric, fear, and class warfare in an attempt to keep power, the Republicans had an ideologiacal steamroller that flattened their crap.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
The Republicans are also at least as good as the Democrats on economic issues.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
Republicans are just better at faking ideas they are running on.
Republicans and Democrats are both pretty bad economicly. The difference is the Democrats claim to have proggressive views on the economy and demand change, and then they go into office and keep everything the same. Republics defend the system.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
Actually, they are better. Democrats lean towards socialism while Republicans are a bit more towards capitalism. The only problem is when Bush decides to get votes by doing stupid crap like the steel tariffs.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
They both lean towards a twisted form of corperate welfare disguised as capitalism.
The democrats of the last generation were slightly better. Johnson and RFK were definately better for the economy then Ixon and Ford. Since then, Republicans and democrats have practicly merged.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
The republicans insist on subsidizing buisinesses that are fine without subsidy. The democrats insist on subsidizing people that refuse to work.
The government has no buisiness doing either of these things.

Re: More Sore-Looserman
You invoke Perot as spoiler, in order to charge the Democrats with hypocrisy? heh.
