| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

a hated law
dont u just hate the law that doesnt allow "loitering" Like Its a False pretext for cops to come and give u hard time \ search u. And when people are figthing and u watch u can be charged with that. Loitering in the park? how can that be??? They pass out 118$ tickets for that. If you wait for someone at the metro u may be asked to leave. This Law acts on prejudice. no one should be able to control where i wanna be in public. Comments. Oh. And if u think this belongs in bitch an moan send it there... but i think it goes on to debate the use of some laws by the police.

Re: a hated law
Notice the insane amount of laws passed each year?
There are so many laws that no one knows what the law is anymore. The main reason for this is that when no one knows the laws, then cops can make shit up and people will believe them.

If it were that simple, I would agree. However, when you look at the morons out there (kidnappers, drug dealers, misc. thugs, et al), then folks have a right to know just "why" you're hanging around and they have a right to feel uncomfortable. Nox

Re: a hated law
This pisses the hell out of me. My personal belief is that you can say anything you want, which includees: rallies, posters, and speach, so long as you do not dammage the property of others. Fuck those pansies who "feel" oppresed. Unless your property has been dammaged or your person threatened, DEAL WITH IT!!!

Re: a hated law
I loved the irony of the Commander's quote "People should not have to go through life being subjected to abuse because of who they are or what they believe in". So that's why they were arresting people largely on the strength of what they believe in.
Still, under British law they can't actually be prosecuted for their beliefs unless the police can prove the defendants arrested actually comitted crimes.

Re: a hated law
Loitering is one of those crimes they have so that they can arrest people without any real reason. They have JayWalking for that too. Why is JayWalking illegal in America? I always wonder that. Is it because of the "sue me" culture? If someone is taking their life into their own hands by !!crossing the road!! surely that's their choice, who does it hurt?

It has absolutely no effect on the law-abing driver of the car who accidentally hit the moronic jaywalker. Nox
