| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

Re: What do you think about army past? Wars, technology, etc.
Uhh...Wars create tons of useful everyday technology such as better airplanes, radios, satelites. Shit like cell phones all trace back to defence technology.
Hell, the Department of Defense created the internet. That true. Not al gore(that no-nothing schmuck).
The dude who invented the machine gun thought that it would end war forever. He saw it as something that could do enough damage to deter anybody. Fuck that.
The a-bomb probably helped a lot with nuclear power plants and gave shitloads of knowledge about atomic energy.
Artifical satelites started as spy shit. That led to cell phones, sat. TV, and weather satelite shit.
Air force planes are bad ass. Oh yea...They made faster, better planes and shit.
There is no way to post it all. This is just of the top of my head.

Here's a military quote for you.
The purpose of war is to kill. Wars stop when both sides tire of killing.

Re: What do you think about army past? Wars, technology, etc.
I'm unhappy with the existence of gunpowder weapons, crossbows, and WoMD, but military advancement is a good thing, for the reasons given.
The main effect of gunpowder was that wars were no longer considered as honorable, and desirable to participate in.

Re: What do you think about army past? Wars, technology, etc.
you could write about the HUGE jump of technology from WWI --> WWII, you could go of at a slight tangent saying maybe this has been acquired from aliens then make it applicable by saying if there was continued contact maybe the weapons would get stupidly powerful and be strong enough to destroy the entire planet, then say oh wait they already are, nukes etc then link back to technology coming from war as more complex and powerful computer processors were needed for the more complex calculations

True. But the technology leap from 1861-1865 was quantitatively and qualitativly greater. Nox
