El wrongo times two. And the last time you brought up the second one I referenced you to James A Garfield, 20th President of the United States. You obviously failed to check it out. This proves that not only are you an idiot, but you refuse to be educated. As far as the first, that is a DIRECT quote from one of your idiot diatribes about inFIDEL CASTRO. You LIE when you deny posting it. Nox

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
Nox is right.
Castro must be stopped. All we need is one sniper.
Seriously, military snipers keep going on TV saying how much better they are than the one in DC, let them get a chance to show how much better they really are.

According to your interpretation. Reading the 2nd amendment verbatim is totally the opposite of what you are saying. No where in the amendment does it mention the word "State" And why up until the 1930's was possession of firearms not regulated?

a well regulated militia is the REASON they give the right to bear arms. unless you think for some reason we would need a right to a militia.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
It's a direct quote? What thread? Where? When? I'd certainly like to see it.
James A. Garfield's administration and Castro's regime have the same amount of recorded civilian casualties. That number is zero.
Oh yeah, you were telling me that Castro "killed" the Cuban soldiers that died in Cuba's military actions in Grenada and Angola. If you're gonna still stick by that half assed argument, I'll just say ahead of time that "President Roosevelt killed all our soldiers that died in WWII." Nox style.

Yes it is, and I don't see how an individual carrying a concealed pistol is a militia.

I will agree with you here to a point. the constitution does state that people are to be able to bear arms, but it does not even imply that people should be able to conceal these arms or that they should be able to carry pistols, or to be able to buy them without a waiting period. But it DOES NOT state that only militiamen can carry arms.

A couple months ago I had a topic about a Canadian sniper who had a chest shot at 2500 meters (when confirmed, will be the record). And yes these guys (military snipers) are not just good, they are really good. Nox

Idiot. A militia is a group of the above men that gets together in times of crisis. When there is no crisis, there is no militia, at least active.

So if an army of militant invaders wages a ground war on my country, and several men take up arms to fight them, I'll consider it their constitution right.
That still doesn't mke some hick transporting 15 double barelled shotguns across state lines.

How dense are you? what other than privately armed citizens would make up a militia? And against whom do you think a militia armed to secure " a free state" would use their guns? Not just invaders.

SLightly off topic, but I heard somewhere that Adam West was a radical socialist.
How was I wrong? I'm still sticking to my original claim that Fidel Castro hasn't killed anybody.

I know that your vast knowledge of history includes this minor fact, and I know that you never let facts get in your way, so I'll put this fact back out for the benefit of those who don't have your educational repertoire: Fidel Castro himself pushed the button that shot down the U-2 monitoring the Soviet missile build-up in Cuba (much to the shock and shagrin of the Soviets in the room). The U-2 pilot was killed. But then this is just one more example of: "Those that Castro killed didn't die". Nox

How is it illegal and why would he be transporting 15 double barreled shotguns across state lines when he would go for something more? Have you even handled and fired a gun before in your life? If not, then self-important, assuming turds like you and gun grabbers should wake up and smell the crap coming from your mouth.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
Do you know the reason that no one in the recent past has successfully invaded Switzerland? Because, along with rocky terrain, every citizen in that country is trained in the use of a millitary arm, and keeps one in the case of an invasion. I see little difference with the way that a large portion of our populace owns guns and can use them okay. I seriously think that a good many of our people would be as usefull as the millitary in our fight against any invasion.

And the swiss were never legally allowed to carry concealed handguns.
Yes, I've had lots of experience with guns in my life, and I know very well that controlling them would severally reduce crime.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
You have had gun experience? I'm talking the real things you know.
>>>And the swiss were never legally allowed to carry concealed handguns<<<
That's because they have Assualt Rifles. And in states with concealed handgun carry, crime has dropped.
>>>and I know very well that controlling them would severally reduce crime<<<
Yeah, it would have about the same affect as prohibition did. But like all gun-grabbers, you are impervious to logic.
In any case, go to the right to keep and bear arms forum, and debate it with some of those guys.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
Concealed carry makes a ton of sense. In any state with concealed carry, no one can be sure of who does and who does not have a gun. Our gun owning rights should be preserved because that is the only right we have that people in better areas of the world don't have.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
Amendment II to the Constitution of the United States:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
What part of "people" do you not understand? If they had put the word "and" in there you would all shut up. I guess they didn't assume that our country would fall into the hands of bedwetting liberals. Why the fuck do you want to take guns away from law-abiding people?
Ok, so lets make them illegal. Im sure all criminals will just stop everything to turn their guns over to the authorities.
BTW, prisoners limited rights, they lose 2nd, 4th amendment and voting rights. Guards can search your cell at any time. You still have freedom of speech and property rights. You still have 5th amendment rights too.

Re: Misconceptions about the US constitution
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
This is stating two things:
1)A well regulated Militia is necessary to the security of a free state.
2)The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
The language is different because it was written over 200 years ago.
