Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Default George W Bush vs Saddam Hussein

This is brilliant.... Saddam Hussein offered George W Bush out for a one on one fight to the death (after Bush admitted that he had no quarrel with the Iraqi people who would surely suffer if a war was declared) in order to save the lives of thousands of Iraqis and Americans. Followed by a similar fight to the death by their respective deputies.

I notice this has had almost NO coverage in the British media (I can't speak for the American media) and I just don't get it.

The big questions are...
1) Would there be any weapons involved
2) Who would get the TV rights
3) Who do you think would win. George W Bush is quite a large man and very stupid, which denotes physical strength, but he is a coward. Meanwhile Hussein does seem to like violence and is not a coward and will fight to the death.

Since Saddam issued the challange, Bush gets to choose the weapon...I suggest F-16's.

I haven't heard anything about it, but that is funny as hell. I wish they would, it would be great.

If GWB is just trying to get Hussein because of a personal vendetta, why should American and British soldiers die for Bush's problem.

Saddam didn't suggest it; one of his ministers did, proposing a "team idea". He fancied the idea of fighting Cheney, presumably.

This had almost no coverage in the British media. For example, the Times relegated it to their front page.

It's the sort of proposal which will give satirists a headache trying to think of a funnier and less plausible scenario for deciding the future of the Middle East. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Sometimes cliches are truisms.

Only the Times (and radio 4) covered it. Also, only certain TV news broadcasts mentioned a mentaller going around Washington DC with a gun knocking off random civvies, although "Cambridge Universitotty" got a full page? Like it's surprise clever people can have nice legs too?

I saw this on both Fox news and CNN when the story came out.

Bush won't be allowed do it because it imposes too much of a risk. However, if they actually did do it, he would probably do good with pistols at dawn because he is a crackshot.

I think Saddam would, he has plenty of practice on political prisoners, though without them shooting back.

You forgot about our former prez who hid in England. At least the current one put on a uniform.

Or lets his sons do it as a birthday gift.

Your hero, CLinton, did not have this, as he ran and hid during Vietnam. and Bush Sr. actually was shot down during WWII.
