Fidel Castro---The Self Made Enemy of USA
Just a point, in the 50s Cuba was ruled by a man called Batista (Who was aided by USA to remove the Spanish). At this time Cubans were in extreme poverty and Batista asked USA for aid.... Which they gave (good old USA)and Batista spent the money on his own parties and jwelry for his wife etc. (not on his people) So USA hatched a plan to remove him from power.
Many years previously 2 men (unconnected) had been exiled from Cuba to Mexico, where they met. Both were relatively young and I can't remember why they got into bother. One was a tearaway who rode around on his bike writing diaries about it and the other had a large beard and smoked cigars. When the two met they had 1 major thing in common... they're mutual hatred of Batista.
After Batistas cheekiness with the aid, USA also had something in common with these two men (lets call them Ernesto and Fidel).
USA said to Fidel, "how about we give you, Ernesto and god knows how many other Cuban exiles in Mexico, guns and ammo and training to go and remove that Batista from Cuba...which they did. During a brief amount of fighting in a period known as the Cuban Revolution, USA realised (shock horror) that Ernesto and Fidel were Communists!!!! and spent the next 50 years trying to kill them (having succeeded in killing Ernesto "Che" Guevara and thus far failing to kill Fidel Castro.
My point is that the America TWICE overthrew the government in Cuba and TWICE found themselves with an enemy in Cuba. What makes USA think Iraq will be any different. (Afghanistan is getting increasingly pissed off too)
Epilogue --------
Cuba prospered in comparison to recent years and the Cuban peopel were finally happy (excepting a very small minority of ungrateful cunts who swam to Florida) while USA got petulant, refused to trade with Cuba and almost nuked it when Russia started trading with Cuba. And to my knowledge Cuban cigars are still illegal in America (hence Americans always make a point of claiming their cigars are cuban because they are so valuable).

Hey moron: It's fortunate for you that this is all the further that I have/shall read of yet another (and I can't decide if it's idiotic or imbecilic) post. This absolutely false, incorrect, superfluous drivel is indicative of your absolute lack of knowledge/understanding of history. This history lesson is for others since I know you are impervious to education. The Batista that Mr. Know-it-all talked about, you know, the one who was aided by the US to help "oust the Spanish", was born four (4) years after the United States removed the Spanish from Cuba during the Spanish-American War (a low point in US History). To help out those unfamiliar with the event, that particular war (Spanish-American, of Teddy Roosevelt fame) took place in 1898. Batista was born 1902. Chuckie, your 'expertise' is shining yet again. But then I guess you are 'Presuming' to educate me about my own countries' history. Nox

Astounding Nox! I cannot believe you said that you imbecile. Not only are you immensely stupid (ignorant too), but you believe you are correct.
True, the Spanish-American War was in 1898, but it was only Spanish FORCES who left Cuba in 1899, the administration still remained quite firmly under puppet rule until Batista took it over in the 1st Cuban Revolution.
Neither imbecilic or idiotic, but it is very amusing to hear your strange views nonetheless

Over what? I would think they're fairly pleased that the Taliban have been pushed from power. They might be tired of living in a battlefield, but they can't expect peace and prosperity - when the bulk of their GDP is made up of poppy production. Besides, life's a bitch when you lack self-determination, which they do. Edit: And I would like for someone to verify this story about our funding of the Castro revolution. I thought the revolution came as a surprise to us. [This message has been edited by user X (edited 10-04-2002).]

>>>Pissed off at being constantly bombed of course<<<
I'd be very happy that a bunch of religous world class turds were ousted by constant US bombing. I know the Afghanis' with a little bit of brainpower were when I went there.
>>>At least under the Taliban the people were aware of what the crimes were<<<
Shaving beards? Possessing a TV? Oh yes, very awful and serious crimes against humanity.
>>>But what crimes have they committed to have their houses destroyed<<<
The ones who had their houses destroyed, and don't have a habit of ambushing and firing rockets at UN troops, are getting their houses rebuilt by US and UN troops.
>>>(Nearly a year after the Al Quaeda have fled to Pakistan)<<<
Hello Stupid, there are still pockets of Al Qaida, Taliban, and Tribes attacking us. By god, you are a jackass.
>>>BOMB PAKISTAN. Oh no but Pakistan might BOMB YOU BACK YOU COWARDLY BULLIES!!!!<<<
At least Pakistan is working to get rid of the terrorists. except for the Hindu Kush and the Afghan-Pakistani border. The times I was in that area, there were more shootouts then a Saturday Night Western.

Re: Fidel Castro---The Self Made Enemy of USA
Joe, is it true that some of the tribal leaders are fighting the western forces? I thought that they were fairly pleased with the opportunity to take back power. Are these the ones that got left out of the new ruling process?

Re: Fidel Castro---The Self Made Enemy of USA
I saw something on NBC news just now, that said - the tribal leaders are withholding their militiamen for themselves. Apparently, this is making it difficult to create a national force. A US special-forces officer said that they had hoped to have about 18,000, but only have around 1,800.
They'll be easy pickings for the next usurpers.
More stories of a dismal lack of self-determination at CNN.

When I was there they were pretty happy with it. I saw on the news a couple of times were Tribal leaders were going to declare jihad on the US.

They shouldn't, but forming an ALLIANCE with the other tribes, could lead to an actual nation, with a real government and more regional power.
They don't appear willing or capable though.

Just like Somalia. Though I hear that the country split into two.

I know I've said this before in other topics, but many 'infidels' aren't aware of the surah in the Quaran that talks about and even defends "friendly and unfriendly tribes". No need to compromise, let's have it our way and Allah doesn't care. Nox

Both items here. I'm unfamiliar with the first, and didn't understand the second (imagine that.)

Re: Fidel Castro---The Self Made Enemy of USA
One of the surah (the rough equivalent of a "book" of the bible) talks about friendly and unfriendly tribes (in fact that's the title of the surah). It is this particular surah which allows two different tribes (or countries) who are Muslim to engage in war without any moral dilemmas. Christianity has no corresponding admonition which allows this. Example, during WWII, the Catholic Bishops on both sides would bless the tanks before battle and implore God's help and mercy for their respective armies. God can't be on both sides in Christianity, but he can be in Islam.
For the second part, Allah loves everybody so go duke it out. After it's all over, Allah will sort out the pieces. And by the way, whoever is the victor, it was Allah's will (choice) for that side to be the victor to begin with.
Hope this helps.
