| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

Best type of Government
What would be, was, or is the best type of government? I think a Democratic Communism. Communism never really worked cause of their leaders. Mao starved his people, Stalin killed his people, and and Castro was dumb enough to look at Russia for help and after russia fell Cuba was S.O.L. Anyway, thats my opinion.

The best government is that which governs least.

Re: Best type of Government
Nox, that was Tom Paine.
Jefferson said..
"The end of democracy, and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of the lending institutions and moneyed incorporations."
and,
"A little revolution, now and then, is a healthy thing. It is as natural as lightning."

Re: Best type of Government
Wasn't Jefferson also into the theory of Isolation and didn't it not work out?

Re: Best type of Government
Yes it did...We stayed isolated until the beginning of the 20th century, and that was only broken out of serious political and economic necessity. The spirit of isolation remained strong until the end of World War II.

Re: Best type of Government
Thing is if we would have stayed Isolated in WWI there would not have been a second. the war probably would have ended with a treaty of equals between the European powers. There would not have been the humiliation or inflation that led to the rise of Hitler.

Re: Best type of Government
Castro was dumb in looking for Soviet aid? Who the fuck drove him to it? the US. Our blockade forced Castro in the soviet direction.
The best system would be an international Marxist-Leninist system with enough democratic representation to prevent tyranny, yet enough central power to prevent corruption.

Re: Best type of Government
i'm a capitalist pig,
so any government that allows the flourishing of capitalism i like.
but since i've not seen any better, and i'm not a governmental scholar,
i'd have to say right now america's way is the best way,
despite it's obvious flaws, which lies mainly in the people and those they elect than in the core structure of the system itself.
