Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Since he has a MBA in Business from Harvard, and I do not...I must be a mega-idiot.

Don't believe all the political spin you hear...or maybe you should. There are those who think that I am indeed a mega-idiot.

heres a question. if his dad wasn't president, would he have a chance in hell of becomeing president himself?

My error.

RAOVQ,

Good hypothetical question...however, Bill Clinton (smoked, but didn't inhale) got elected. You cannot say in Bush's case that stranger things haven't happened.

After Nixon, we elected "Trust Me" Jimmy Carter.

Maybe after dirtbag Clinton, people were looking for some dignity in the Office of President of the United States.

Bush is just another leader. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just another man deciding to run for presidency cause he thought it's his birth given right.

No it wasnt that he had extramarital sex it was that he told someone to monica to lie about it under oath in a trial when the testimony was pertinant to establishing credibility in a case of sexual harassment.

I don't agree with the way he handled that at all. Lying is crap that both Bush (Mr. "I don't know Ken Lay")and Clinton are guilty of. Clinton should have said "This is not your business". However, everything that happened between Monica and him was totally consensual. I am more pissed about his actual policies and actions than the Monica Media event. The same people that used that issue and screamed "sexual harrassment!" and "immorality!" are the same ones that also cheated on their wives (*waves at Newt*) and would repeal every sexual harassment law if they got a chance. There's tons of stuff Clinton did that angers me. The one thing that Clinton did that I don't give a crap about is the one that Republicans jumped on.

I've used this example many times...

Klinton's average prewartime allocated spending budget for education 30-35 billion both terms.

Bush's proposed fiscal year 2003 postwartime budget for education 50-55 billion.

That shit hits home.

Increased defense budget spending gives hardworking military personal (those who would give their lives for our country) more job security, better pay and a new pool of open jobs to fill.

Some more Bush vs Klinton crap...

Klinton signed silly gun laws that effect me to this day.

Klinton's staff was responsible for "trashing" the white house before their departure.

Gore accepted illegal campaign funds.

During the klinton era you could RENT out rooms in the white house (cash only).

Lied under oath to his country about extra martial affairs.

Well facts are facts. Dollar to dollar bush has done more for me than klinton ever did. Attack him personally, but budgets are budgets. His public speaking skills have improved post september eleventh. But how does that effect me? He has a impressive team of advisors who are very intelligent individuals.

In efforts to decrease our dependacy for oil from other countries. Bush wanted to develope new drilling in alaska and in the gulf. In effect decreasing foreign oil dependancy and lowering pump prices. The democrats voted it down.

Clinton had the right to lie under oath, since it was none of the court or the country's business who he slept with.

I think Clinton should be in jail for his illegal bombing of the Sudan medical factory, killing 30,000 people. The cheating on his wife thing was really nothing.

At least he admitted it the first time that questionWhats wrong with Clinton.

(quote)All be did was fuck some women while he was married. He wouldent be the first would he, and he wont be the last. came up.

Well, Since his approval ratings went up during that whole time when that was brought into question and people on the whole belived that it was okay, then a married man can go fuck some other women, then in Divorce court can use that. In the Military, Perjury is a punishable offense, and so is adultery. Not something we look up to when our commander-in-chief is getting a blowjob while givng the go ahead for deploying to the balkans.

Klinton's average prewartime allocated spending budget for education 30-35 billion both terms.

Bush's proposed fiscal year 2003 postwartime budget for education 50-55 billion.

It sure does, when Teachers aren't getting paid for shit, have outdated computers (Schools in the area were still using those fucking Apple IIGS from the early 1980's before Bush, now we have plenty.

As for the increased military spending. that is very well deserved. Especially when you have your family living in shitty housing, have your father/mother deployed constantly on bullshit humanitarian missions, And When your field gear is just now being replaced with more modern equipment, and LOTS of training to go with it. To give an example, the new Javalin Anti-Tank missile costs over $10,000 a unit. When Clinton was President No one in my Regiment ever fired a live one except a lucky Marine who went to the demonstration. by contrast we fire live rockets at nearly every live-fire range.

This caught my attention because I had always thought that the democrats were the big education spenders due to their ties with the teachers unions. So I did some surfin' and discovered that the new administration was indeed spending more on education. But as I looked at the budgets over the past 10 years, I discovered that they always spend more. They employ what I believe are called 'baseline budgetary techniques'. In other words, a department doesn't have to re-justify the previous years budget, it only has to explain why it wants more. Not what I would call 'accountable accounting'. Then I ran across this page that states the rate of increase of education spending is actually less under Bush.

Looks like a shell game to me.

Phrases like 'decrease our dependancy on foreign oil' are used to fool you into squandering our strategic reserves for a quick buck. It's in our best interest to deplete our enemy's oil first.

Instead of comparing what drugs they did or who they fucked, be concerned about who's hands are up these puppets asses.

There you go again. Do you actually read the post after you've written it and before you post it? Better yet do you think about what you've written?

I dare you to walk into court, get sworn in, lie about an answer, and then tell the judge you had the "right" to lie because... You would then have plenty of time on your hands to catch up on your education.

I guess you need to talk to the Brits about Kristeen Keeler. I'm sure you already know about her.

Well lemme see here, he makes a hit list of countries he considers nuclear targets and then attempts to throw up a missile defence shield at the expense of the taxpayers that has a 1/3 accuracy rate which just causes China to mass multiple warheaded ICBM's and point them at us.

Then he declaires that any country that isn't with us is against us which is total bullshit and that statement does nothing but to aid foreign hostilities. Then this whole U.S. Patriot act bullshit surfaces post Sept. 11'th, feel free to stop me at any time here. Alot of shit has happened since he got in office, and I definately think this country could be run better than he is currently doing it.

If a man in a position of power gropes me, I kick the man. If he tries to do anything to me as punishment for the kicking, then I tell and sue when it happens, since it's rightfully against the law to fire or threaten someone for rejecting a sexual advance. If a man in a position of power groped me a long time ago then becomes president later on, I don't bring it up. That's a political move. I'm a feminist. My mind is not so fragile that I will break down, cry and feel helpless if a dude flashes me or touches me. I'd just laugh or kick.

We don't need Jerry Springer type trials for every little detail in someone's personal life unless it's something big like murder, or something that effects the nation. That goes for all presidents, even the ones I hate. I don't care if Bush used to do a lot of coke. I don't care who smoked pot and who inhaled, and I don't care about nitpicking on past military service. I don't care about their sexual affairs or if they fuck blow up dolls. I care about what how they go about their job. Clinton should have pleaded the fifth, however, every president we have had lately has lied big time. I'd rather see Clinton lie about an embarassing sex affair than see Bush lying about his Enron ties.

You don't need a trial every time a dude touches you or flashes you. You don't even need to resort to violence. Just tell him to knock it off and laugh in his face. If the guy threatens you or penalizes you in the workplace for rejecting a sexual advance, he can be rightfully taken to court for discrimination. I don't like "mental damage" and "emotional suffering" crap in sexual harrassment lawsuits. That kind of crap promotes the idea that women are either weak and can't emotionally handle anything, or are using the law to get money and attention. Really, does a person have nightmares for seeing a penis or hearing someone say "nice ass"? How can a women not be able to slap someone, "accidentally" spill hot coffee on them, or tell them to knock it off? Are they paralized and mute? There are many ways to handle something besides resorting to Jerry Springer type show trials months or YEARS after the fact. What women is honestly traumatized for years because a guy flashed and propositioned her in a motel?

There's nothing wrong with going after terrorists. Waging a campaign of violence in which we're killing more innocent people then they did isn't the best solution. We could easily get the terrorists through cover opps and negotiations - the peaceful responce would work better in this case.

Mouse, you're a chick? You're the first female I've ever encountered fervantly arguing left wing politics and making sence. Congradulations.

Lostmind, you don't care that people die. You haven't given any thought as to all the people the United States have killed in their massive bombing campaigns of civilian targets throughout the cold war, and the genocides we've funded illegally by selling arms to Iran.

User, between the US and Russia it was "non violent". Between the US and third world nations, it was extremely violent. For one example, we had a war against Nicaraqua where tens of thousands of people died. We targetted what they call "soft targets". That means civilians and civilian infrastructure. Nicaraqua kept going to every world court to try and get the US to stop, and everyone voted against the US, but US and Israel vetoed and the US refused to recognize the world court.
