| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

Taking Equal Rights Too Far
Below I included a link to an article I found. It was written about a statue that is being made of the famous photograph of the 3 firefights that are raising the American flag at the World Trade Center wreckage site. This article explains how the three white firefights are being replaced by 1 White, 1 Hispanic, and 1 Black firefighter to be politically correct. I feel the it is horrable to re-write history like that so that any minorities won't be left out. Here is the link !

Re: Taking Equal Rights Too Far
It's gonna be a bronze statue anyways. How are they going to depict race unless they use physical stereotypes to represent them which will just bring more criticism. just build the dam statue and be done. Nobody is going to question it once it's built and if they do then they obviously don't give a shit about all the people who died. While I'm near the subject. WTF is up with remembering all the firefighters and police that lost their lives. There were a couple thousand civilians that died too, did everyone forget about them?

Re: Taking Equal Rights Too Far
native americans, asian americans, and N.O.W.(national organization of women) will sue for being left out of the hero brigade,
then PETA will sue for not having the firefighter mascot the dalmation included as well, then the k-9 unit will petition to have a german shepherd included as well,
hey if it wasn't for hungry dogs your family members rotting, yet cooked corpses would not have been found, a little over done, but done nonetheless.
then the police force will sue to have a couple of officers holding the flag as well,
or else they'd still be associated with rodney king, and their continuing research on anal probe devices.
then the gay pride movement will want their portion of firefighters and police represented as well.
then the Arab Defamation League will demand an arab-american representation as well or the whole project will have to be shelled for the negative image that will be implied from the monument.
then because of some jackass who wants to get rich quick, will find a resemblance between himself and one of the statues and demand royalty payments there will have to be a disclaimer plaque that every person who visits there will have to confirm they have read, but you know they don't understand,
for it holds the core of the very ridiculous nature behind political correctness.
the plaque will read...
"The people(animals) represented above are purely fictitious, any resemblance to any people(animals) living or dead is purely coincidental."
for those of you who do not see the irony of this, and the sheer and utter lunacy behind political correctness.
i will translate the plaque in laymen's terms...
"The people(animals) represented above do not exist, any similarity to existant people(animals) is impossible."

Re: Taking Equal Rights Too Far
What do you mean how can you depict a race without color without using "stereotypes"? In this culture, stereotype has a negative connotation. Are you saying being able to tell a Mexican on black and white TV isnt an African is bad?

Re: Taking Equal Rights Too Far
thats not equal rights dumbfuck thats polika correctness. equal rights is saying a woman gets payed the same amount as a man and that blacks/mexicans or minority can do anything that a white, christian, male, between 21-49 can do.

Re: Taking Equal Rights Too Far
Before you call anyone a dumb fuck you should check your spelling. This article and this topic isn't about the difference between political correctness or equal rights. I opened it to see if anyone else thought all this treating the races equally bullshit is going to far. When I read that I see that history would be re-written just because of the color of the skin of the three firefighters who lifted the flag. If you are looking for anything else besides that then this isn't the message for you. Go call someone else names, I don't need that imature shit buddy, I am trying to discuss something and you can't handle it without trying to cut down on someone, so grow up or find a new topic.
