This topic brings to mind the John Lennon song, "Imagine". Personally, I believe the song to be extremely beautiful and enlightened. Most people seem to think it is either devil-worshipping music, or just another hippie song. The lyrics in one line is imagine no possessions. Think about that for a long time and then talk about beating the shit out of a human being because their feet are cold and need shoes. The greed of possessions is what put society where it is today. The mass consumerism is sickening. All I hear on the news is how "it is good to buy", and "the stock market is down so people are not buying enough". It is enough to make you sick. Take ownership of land for instance. If any of you have a landlord or pay property taxes you will understand. Why is it you need to pay someone to live? All property tax means is that you are renting the land from the government, so do not fool yourself into believing you own the land. And landlords really make no contribution to society, yet they are well paid because of the belief in property. It is the same with bankers. Will someone explain why we have inflation? I have done as much research into the topic as time will allow and I can not find one single answer other than greed. Financers give you a certain amount of money and then make your money worth less, and you need to pay them more. Works great for them, not so well for you.

shoes and stuff arnet property, they are possesions. property is something that makes money or keeps people opressed. im all for possesions, but property is theft as no one can own something like that.

communism fails because it entrust absolute power to the state. anarchy fails because the people are easily conquered. Every attempt at the creation of so called communist utopias cause only misery, stalins purges, the killing feilds of pol pot, the great leap forward/cultural revolution of mao.

furthermore capitalism rewards those who society sees as most valuable. If youre a starving artist its probably because people think your art is crap, and all things being subjective it is. If you wonder why you get paid five bucks an hour to flip burgers its because a trained monkey could do the job. If you're wondering why Ed Asner gets millions of dollars a year its because every one who buys a disney movie is in effect saying he should. If you're wondering why proffesionals get paid so much its because they preform tasks that the average person can't. If you're wondering why landlords get money its because they provide a commodity, shelter, that people being incapable of living anything but hand to mouth need.

the belife that you are entitled to something by want is utter foolishness. It is the lie that is the cornerstone of the supposedly progressive economic paradigms. Also the the two virtues that necessarily need to be sacrificed to these systems are self respect and independence. I could go off on this tangent for a while but Ann Rand said it much better than I could.

You have a valid point to some extent. I would like to add though that I do not believe that Phillip Knight of Nike is so valuable as to be a billionaire, or close to it. He uses 12 year old girls in China, Thailand and other Asian countries as labor for your precious Air Jordan's and other apparel with that dumb swoosh sign. By the way, whoever is putting that swoosh on your car, stop, it makes you look like a moron.

Also, you talk about giving up independence under communism or statelessness. How much independence do you have right now? I think that however you answer will be false. But, you are "sure" you have more independence than any other people on the planet.

What has the government done for you? It should be hard for you to answer because everything that it does is done using american tax dollars, our money. I have heard people say they build roads or protect us militarily. First off, people build roads, and will continue to do so if paid. Military defense is the last argument for government most people have. Do you all really think that we would have terrorists attacking us if our military had just stopped supporting Israel? No Muslim countries would have a problem with us. Please do not believe that absolute bs about "they hate our freedom". That is the dumbest sounding thing I have heard from authority in awhile.

What does to capitalize mean? It means to EXPLOIT something. Let's say I drop a twenty dollar bill on the ground. You would CAPITILIZE on my mistake by picking up the twenty and keeping it for yourself. So I doubt highly that capitalism is the purest and best form of economic theory. It has many advantages and maybe when humans stop being greedy it will be the best.

i can't think of any way to get rich in the world without explioting someone, and as it is so common, people belive that it is right. the western world is the top 20% and the rest of the world works harder than any manager or the like. just think that everyone you see that can afford to choose (or at least has the illusion of choice) has 4 people working to keep them there. capatilism does not reward those who work hard (that should be obvious) it rewards those who forget all morals and expliot anyone and anyone for their own personal gain

This post was originally had the intent to bash the kiddy who named himself after the author of that property book.

I like where this is going, though. What the capitalist system does is provide for an economic democracy (ideal). Every dollar that you spend is a vote.

yeah, if people knew what they wanted. but with people thinking with only emotions, and not with logic, while goverment and mega cooperations tell us what we need to be happy, and people belve all of it. when have the masses been right?
if every dollar people spend is a vote, then the candidates are all corrupt lieing bastards. look who is winnning. i trust them as far as i can throw them. the system if fatally flawed and its only a matter of time...
