| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

President Bush Considering Extension of Illegal Alien Loophole!
President Bush is urging Congressional leaders to extend a loophole known as Section 245(i), which expired on April 30th. Section 245(i) is a provision that allowed illegal aliens to adjust their status without having to leave the U.S. and undergo background checks that legal immigrants are subject to. Besides being a reward for illegal behavior, Section 245(i) would also allow illegal aliens to circumvent the re-entry bar established by Congress in 1996 that ties an alien's ability to legally reside in the U.S. to their willingness to obey the law.
Over 640,000 illegal aliens have already taken advantage of this program after it was opened for a four-month period due to a compromise made last year in an appropriations bill. The White House estimated that an extension would allow an additional 200,000 illegal aliens to take advantage of the system.
What You Need to Do
Call President Bush right now and tell him that an extension of Section 245(i) sends the message that is ok to break our laws. Call Bush at 202 456-1414
Also contact your Representatives and Senators through the Congressional Switchboard (202) 224-3121 and urge them to oppose Section 245(i).
Talking Points
There is no benefit in extending Section 245(i), a provision that rewards illegal aliens for their illegal activity when our nation already has over 12 million illegal aliens currently residing in the U.S. (in a country of 281, practically 300 million people; 3rd in the world)
