Default The House Theory

I have a theory.

A house theory.

*silence*

Okay. I'll explain now. Excuse the smoke rings.

Economy is a house. A house with a floor, walls, and a roof. The poor class would be the floor, the middle class would be the walls, and the roof would be the high class.

Every house needs a floor. If there was no floor, the house would be sitting on dirt and the middle class would end up being the poor class, and because the walls are the biggest part of the house, we'd have a huge poor class.

So, we don't want to middle class on the bottom. It's too big. That's why there's the floor. The floor is small and thin and it sits down there.

The walls have most the pressure on them, because they hold the house together, really. They support the roof, and keep down the floor.

If we were to abliterate the poor class and there was nothing but middle class and high class (walls and roof) the house would not be complete and though the economy would appear great prices would soon follow, tight on the heels of social upcoming. Which means that if the people are becoming wealthier prices will go up a.k.a inflation.

Every 15 years (supposably) there is a war. War is (in the short run) good for economy. So, lets say the floor is abliterated. We're just walls and a roof - lookin' good. Prices are going up, but we're doing okay.

A war breaks out. People are looking at North America thinking

"Hey, they're doing pretty good. We should be getting a piece of that." But, since our economy is really just a front and prices are going up, we can't help any other countries. There's the makings of a war.

War breaks out, but we have no poor class, and anyone who's doing moderately okay doesn't want to join the services during war time. Especially now that the wars going and inflation has been brought down.

Our army is weak.

China whoops our ass and then taxes us for loosing the Goddamn war.

North America is crippled.

Now, the Democrats want to rid the poor class and basically make the whole economy upper-middle class. Which could incur such a result as the latter. Republicans, on the other hand, love poor people. They want a bigger poor class and a bigger high class and a small middle class (which is stupid because if the roof is too heavy and the walls are too weak, the whole Goddamn house will collapse and all that will be left is a huge poor class. See, the poor class don't move around too much. They don't go anywhere, even if the whole house collapses.).

So, neither way: Democrat or Republican really makes sense, according to my little house theory. But, what else is there, in an electorial government system other than Democrat and Republican?

Cheers,
Lost

Ummm libertarian, green peace, freedom party, etc.

That is also refered to as the pyramid theroy. Which is basically how it turns out. But we all know there is one party and they are the republicrats. By the way both ways dont make since. But politics never makes since in the first place

might have been valid a decade or two ago when wars were won and lost due largely to manpower, but any real serious war these days is going to be largely played out with large war machines that require little lower class support to maintain.

And as for needing cannon fodder, haven't you heard the governments desperately agressive army recruiting policies?

oh you could like at the house from an anarchists point of view....the house is a mockery to your point of view....you want equal rights for everyone through lack of established government...you are mad because you are a floor or a wall and not on the top (but you dont want to cause you'd get wet from the rain)...so lets take a pseudo anarchists point of view....blow it the fuck up....not going to work....the system is strong...and being nieve enough to think that you could blow it the fuck up would be stupid (bun fun to see if you could actually do it...thatd be a big fucking boom...theoretically...but the aftermath would be cool to see none the less) anyway...so basically what you do is think of a better way to do it...but then you think to yourself "nobody will fucking care or do anything because they are all happy with the fucked up government they so blindly live under" and you realize your hungry and you realize that the house is stupid...the house is socially unequality and the destruction of the individual and thats why you dont like it...and you grab your keys to go to mc donalds

one thing on equality.

we are not all equal, never will be, we are born equal, and in the eyes of the law we should be viewed equal, but we are not equal, never have been, never will be.

the best way to see this is when you are driving. ever see two people on the road that look roughly the same age? one is driving a new car wearing nice clothes, the other is wearing a stained t-shirt, old jeans, and driving a car that has more rust than paint visible with no hubcaps. we lose our equality with the choices we make in life.

somebody told me one time that you are where you are in life because it's where you want to be, either because of your choices, or as a result of your choices. the two people in the above paragraph came into this world equal with the same opportunities, and although both may be happy, both are not equal.

No offense, but that is a very poorly thought out theory. There are too many flaws to go point by point so for the sake of being brief I will illustrate the most obvious. To begin with your model is poor. You use the rules of a house for the rules of economy. For example, "Every house needs a floor." This is wrong for two reasons. First the ground is what supports walls not the floor. Secondly, you say that the lack of a floor turns the middle class into the poor class. I would say, if forced to use this model, the poor class becomes a larger middle class. This is more than just semantics. Economic classes are not defined soley by their position respective of other classes. This is true espcially for the lower class. The lower class is defined by the inability to live at what is called a reasonable standard of living, i.e. they cannot afford food, shelter, etc. Thus the combination of the lower and middle class by the elimination of the lower creates a larger middle class.

Next you say that the walls support the roof, and hold down the floor. Literally speaking, gravity holds down the floor not the walls. Figuratively speaking, you do not explain how the middle class holds down the lower class or for that matter why they would do such a thing.

"Now, the Democrats want to rid the poor class and basically make the whole economy upper-middle class. Which could incur such a result as the latter." This just doesn't make any sense. What is the "latter" you are refering to? Also, the Democrats don't want to make everyone upper-middle class. They have no problems with people being middle ( in addition to upper-middle) or upper class. Republicans, on the other hand, abhor the lower class. How much happier do you think they would be if they did not have to support welfare programs, social security, etc. (understanding of course that the middle class actually supports the vast majority of these programs).

Finally as a last example, the lack of a lower class has no bearing on the ability to make up a militia. In addition to Jaded's point, the armed forces have many middle class people in them. Also, ever hear of patriotism, or the draft?

Now I hope you understand that none of this is a personal attack. I just think you could have thought this through a little mmore carefully.

now we are nit-picking over an example??

the ground supports the floor, which, inturn, supports the house. who the fuck cares. it was a good example.

BRH, my point was that when one makes an implicit comparison of two things they must recognize that the two may have two very different sets of rules. Just because a house needs walls to support which in turn needs the floor doesn't necessarily mean that the upper class relies on the middle and in turn the lower. Secondly, the floor supports nothing. Take it out and the house still stands. This fallacy makes any further point based on this false premise invalid though it can still be true (although in this case I believe it to be false). I would also like to point out that one could argue that the upper-class actually supports both the middle and lower by providing and creating jobs. Without putting much thought into it, I think a better example would be a tree. Roots- lower class, trunk/branches- middle class, and leaves- upper class. The roots provide water and nutrients from the soil, the leaves provide energy through photosynthesis, and the trunk delivers what is needed to where it is needed. In effect every class has its importance in the welfare of the economy, which I believe to be the point of lost_girl's metaphor. (A view that I do not share).

it should really be looked at from this way...rich people pay a fuck lotta taxes, invest in our economy and stock market, and provide people with jobs...therefore, like the tree theory we got goin here..the leaves make the shit that keeps the tree alive...so bs about the poor class and bitch about the middle class because we all fall in it....ah fuck the house....up with the tree! hooray!
